Description of the subject: Thymus guyonii de Noé is medicinal aromatic endemic Algerian plant. Belonging to Labiatae family of Dicotyledonous class and Asteridae under class, commonly called Zaitra. Objective: Our work consists of studying Thymus guyonii essential oil by its chemical composition, evaluate the biological activity essential oil such as the antimicrobial effect. Methods: Hydrodistilled aerial part plant essential oil was done by semi pilote and analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Antimicrobial activity was done on Gram-, Gram+ bacterium and yeast by using aromatogram method with determination minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimal bacteridal concentration (MBC) and fungicidal (MFC). Results: The essential oil of Thymus guyonii was identified by GC / MS at 98.2% of its total composition. The major component is thymol at 35.8% followed by ɤ-Terpinene at 18.7% and p-Cymene at 15.5%. The study of the antimicrobial activity of Thymus guyonii ...
