The objective of this research is to describe the students' problems in developing speaking skill at eleventh grade SMA Darul Hijrah Putra Martapura school year 2017/2018. In this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative as the research design. The population of this research is students at SMA Darul Hijrah Putra Martapura and the samples of this research are 36 students from class XI SMA. The samples are selected based on the problem formulation. This research uses questionnaire and interview as the instrument. The finding shows that students problem: nothing to say (58.33%), mothertongue use (80.55%), difficult to express ideas verbally (58.33%), limited vocabulary (72.22%), limited ability of grammar (72.22%), focused on grammar (61.11%

The study is aimed at finding out the strategies applied by certified English teacher in teaching speaking skill at junior high school and the responses of students toward the strategies. It is a case study of ethnography which was conducted at Junior High School Janapria in academic year 2020/2021. The research involved certified teacher and students of Junior High School Janapria as the research participants. Collecting the research data, the classroom observation was conducted to find out what teaching strategies employed by the certified teacher to teach speaking skill to the students as well as finding out the students’ responses on teacher’s teaching speaking strategy. This study aims to describe the teacher's strategy in teaching speaking skills to the students of SMP Dharma Pancasila Medan. This is done to find out what the teacher uses in teaching speaking skills to special class students at Smp Dharma Pancasila Medan, the strategies used by the teacher, as well as the problems and solutions faced in the implementation of teaching and learning. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative methodology. The research subjects were teachers at SMP Dharma Pancasila Medan. Data was collected through a questionnaire with an English teacher. The results showed that the strategy used by the teacher was only a question and answer strategy.Keywords: teacher’s strategies, speaking skills, English teacher.

Techniques are a way to assist students to explore and increase their ability, so that the teachers are suggested to use the techniques to reach the goals and objectives of teaching. The research aims to find out the strategies used by teachers in teaching speaking to students in secondary school and teachers’ perception about the method. This study involved ten English teachers at several secondary schools in North Sumatra. To collect the data, researchers use qualitative descriptive methods by distributed questionnaires as research instruments using the google form platform. This research was conducted to find and identify the teachers’ strategies in teaching speaking. In conducting this research, the writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research showed that teaching speaking skill through Presentation, Practice and Production method to the eleventh grade students of SMA Swasta Katolik Budi Murni 2 Medan could improve their speaking skill. The result of the test showed that the students’ mean score in pre-test is 58.37 with 5.71% of the students got score ≥75, in formative test the mean score is 67.45 with 32.28% of the students got score ≥75, and in post-test the mean score is 77.31 with 65.71% of the students got score ≥75. Speaking is one of the most important skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Even other people can judge someone whether he masters English or not only by this language skill though there are many other language kills which can decide he master it or not. Of course to judge someone we need to test him or her. There are five kinds of speaking, namely Initiative, intensive, responsive, interactive and extensive. This research used interview speaking test for final examination at the fourth semester in faculty of literature in Putera Batam University. The data collected from the population of 3 classes with the total students of 126 students. The sample is taken from 1 class with the total students of 26. The data from interview are written down in the form of script. Yet not all phases of interview will be analyzed, only probe questions which contain five questions are analyzed from grammar, vocabulary, fluency and Pronunciation.
