N. Saleem Basha, Kewani Ghirmay and Melles Kahsase. In silico comparison of interleukin-2 of Homo sapiens with different species. Pharma Focus: The journal of Eritrean Pharmaceutical Association (ERIPA), Vol. 14, Dec 10 2011, pp32-37. (original) (raw)

Interleukin-2 (IL-2), a crucial immune mediator, showcases significant clinical applications including immunotherapy for HIV, metastatic renal cell carcinoma, and various autoimmune diseases. This study conducts an in silico comparison of IL-2 from Homo sapiens with homologous proteins from species like Canis lupus familiaris, Bos taurus, Mus musculus, and Rattus norvegicus using bioinformatics tools. The analysis reveals a high degree of homology of the human IL-2 with that of dogs, while a lower degree of homology is observed with cattle, mice, and rats, highlighting the closer phylogenetic relationship between humans and dogs in regards to IL-2.
