Libraries breaking barriers through TikTok: enhancing access and visibility

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the usage of TikTok by libraries in enhancing access and visibility of services, facilities and resources. This is a review paper of literature related to the usage of TikTok in libraries. The literature revealed that TikTok is being used mostly for library marketing and advocacy. Though there is scant literature on TikTok for information literacy, this platform is being used for teaching and learning purposes. This is a welcome contribution to the utilization of TikTok for enhancing library services and reaching out to users beyond the library walls.
The Utilization of Instagram as a Media Promotion : the Case Study of Library in Indonesia

This paper aims to explore the Instagram utilization and its obstacles as a media promotion of Pustakalana’s library in Bandung, West Java. The research uses qualitative approach. The informants of this research are Pustakalana’s Instagram administrator and Pustakalana’s coordinator, while data collection techniques consist of observation, interview, literature study, and documentation. Triangulation method is used to test data validity and credibility. Technical data analysis involves of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Social Media Utilization in Universitas Indonesia Library

This research discusses social media utilization activities held in the UI Library as a promotional tool. The purpose of this study is to describe social media use by UI Library. The research applies the qualitative approach and case study method. Informants were chosen by using a purposive sampling technique. Results show that UI Library has utilized social media in the form of Twitter and Instagram as a means to promote the collections, services, or even the facilities there. The library also used social media to collect users' responses, either recommendations or complaints, which were taken as evaluation materials for service improvement. This study suggests that the library should make written policy or SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) about social media management as a media of promotions and increase the number of interactions with users on Instagram. Findings from this research may also be records in order to arrange an academic library's social media application guide, particularly in Universitas Indonesia, and on a bigger scale, in Indonesia.
Social Media Use of National Libraries: A Content Analysis Specific to Instagram
Europe's top five most developed countries and five developing countries were determined based on the Human Development Index. The national libraries of these countries and the Instagram accounts of the National Library of the Presidency of T€ urkiye were examined, and content analysis was performed. Within the scope of content analysis, general views, post types, interaction data, purpose of sharing, narrative format of the content, personal values in the content, visual content, and message association themes were discussed. This study aims to reveal how national libraries use Instagram posts to interact with their target audiences. Within the scope of the study, Instagram posts shared by national libraries were analyzed through content analysis using the ReCall program. The findings showed that national libraries focus more on rational content and emphasize posts that highlight rootedness and nationalism rather than the goal of communicating with the masses or mobilizing users. It was also found that the posts of national libraries differed according to their Human Development Index values. In countries with a high Human Development Index, information and arts-related messages were more prominent, while in other countries, promotional and event-related content was more dominant.
Content Marketing Strategies via Instagram for Indonesian Libraries

The ability to develop content marketing strategies is an emerging skill in the digital marketing world. By using Instagram, a prominent social media platform, marketers can post pictures with interesting captions, popular hashtags and distinctive pattern of object arrangement and selection. Numerous libraries in Indonesia manage their own Instagram accounts for the same reason of offering greater possibilities in knowledge access and discovery. This paper aims to examine how libraries develop content marketing strategies in Instagram and their challenges in developing the strategies. This study is developed by conducting quantitative and qualitative approach combining surveys, observation and broad literature reviews to obtain holistic insights. Use of Social Media in Libraries: A Perspective of a Developing Country

Social Media (SM) provides a range of possibilities for libraries to provide services out from traditional ways and means as modern life has been influenced greatly and massively by the internet. Owing to the amazing advancement of services given through the internet, libraries and information centers have to change and perform efficiently to convene the information needs of modern users. Libraries must use the modern SM tools to enhance and thrive in this age of the internet. Currently, libraries are adopting these tools in their services to satisfy the information and research needs of the users. SM applications in libraries drive to convene the growing and varying prospects of library clients. This paper aims to investigate the use of SM to enhance library effectiveness in Pakistani libraries. The study is based on a survey that was administered through survey monkey. The data of 71 filled questionnaires were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Results show that 73.2% of respondents started using social media after 2008, and the top users are university libraries (53.52%). 76.1 % using Facebook, but 56.3 % believe in the usefulness of blogs/blogging. Professional networking (74.6%) is the main purpose of using SM, followed by the promotion of library services (69%). Three main challenges in using SM at libraries are 1) technical problems, 2) restrictions on using social media at the office; and 3) low internet connection.

Social Media in Libraries: It’s like, Complicated
This article considers how some major libraries across the world are using social media platforms. Libraries have engaged with the ‘household brands’ familiar to us all regardless of geographic location or language although their use of the platforms varies widely. Although there are no surprises in how the platforms are used and what content is made available by each library, the overall impression is of patchy use of the platforms, with some libraries fully embracing all platforms while others concentrating on fewer. A key message is that high quality images for websites seems to succeed in engaging with people. The article is based around social media data collected from library accounts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Blogs between July and August 2012, extended for three months for YouTube due to the lack of regularly submitted content. After a discussion about the role of social media in libraries the data is analysed for each platform.

TIKTOK AS A NEW MEDIA FOR THE FUTURE OF INDONESIAN CREATIVE WORK

TikTok is widely favored among numerous individuals as a social media platform. This research seeks to analyze the expansion of TikTok in Indonesia, explore the opportunities it offers to creative professionals in the country, and examine the potential drawbacks and effects associated with uploading short videos on this social media platform. This study is an analytical Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of publication trends related to TikTok, New Media, and Creative Works. The methodology involves scientific mapping through scientometric analysis, qualitative discussions, and bibliometric searches. The study results show that TikTok is one of the digital media in Indonesia that is proliferating. TikTok serves as a new medium for global communication and information exchange, a platform for interaction, sharing, and socializing, a primary destination for users, a social commerce venue, and a portfolio showcase. Indonesian creative workers use TikTok as a promotional and trading medium. However, faceto-face communication through TikTok can reduce the trust of TikTok users when making transactions, conversations, communications, self-melakukan transaksi, percakapan, komunikasi, aktualisasi diri, dan sebagainya.
