Background: Stress affects the health and academic career of students. Students adopt different coping methods and strategies to deal with stress. Objective: To assess the coping strategies adopted by the undergraduate students of private universities in Himachal Pradesh, India. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out among 422 undergraduate students of two selected private universities in Himachal Pradesh in March-April using self administered questionnaire. Brief cope inventory was used to assess coping strategies. Results: The most used coping strategies were positive reframing (mean=5.85+1.583), active coping (mean=5.82+1.548), religion (mean=5.72+1.77), acceptance (mean= 5.67+1.581) planning (mean=5.65+1.491) and self distraction (mean=5.6+1.583). Least used coping strategies were substance use (mean=2.83+1.478), denial (mean=4.64+1.567) and venting (mean=4.64+1.513). Stress level and coping strategies of college students
The aim of this study was to investigate the stress levels and coping strategies of professional students belonging to Physical Education and Engineering professions. A sample of 60 subjects was randomly selected from the Physical Education and Engineering Institute, India. Each profession group had 30 subjects (15 boys and 15 girls) with age range of 21±3 years. Stress scores due to: 1) frustration and inhibition, 2) overload and 3) compulsive, time-urgent and aggressive behavior were measured for the selected subjects using the questionnaire developed by Daniel et al. (1979). The second questionnaire developed by George and Everly and used by Heyward (1991) was also administered to the students to measure their coping strategy. Data were analyzed using SPSS 17 version. Two way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that stress due to all the stimuli was significantly higher among girls in comparison to boys of their profession. Coping strategy was higher in boys than girls of their respective profession, but Physical Education girls had higher coping strategy than boys and girls of Engineering. Therefore, it can be concluded that Physical Education students had better coping strategy than engineering students.

Background: Various stressors may affect students' psychological health and their academic performance. Coping strategies are specific efforts that individuals employ to manage stress. Objective of this study was to determine the most prevalent types of stressors among undergraduate (UG) college students of Latur, India as well as to identify the coping strategies they use to deal with stress. Subjects and methods: Cross sectional community based study with sample of 160 UG college students selected through purposive convenient sampling technique. There were 95 males and 65 females in the participants. Stress, Sex Differences, and Coping Strategies Among College Students

The sources of stress (academics, financial, family, social, and daily hassles) and coping strategies (self-help, approach, accommodation, avoidance, and self-punishment) of 166 college students were examined. The relationship between sex, specific sources of stress, and coping strategies was also investigated. Students completed a stress assessment inventory and a stress coping inventory based on a 5-factor revised COPE model (Zuckerman and Gagne Journal of Research in Personality, 37:169-204, 2003). Results found that college women reported a higher overall level of stress and greater use of emotion-focused coping strategies than college men. College men and women also reported different coping strategies for different stressors; however the use of emotion-focused coping strategies dominated over problem-solving strategies for both men and women. These results have implications for designing stress reduction workshops that build on the existing adaptive emotion-focused strategies of college students.
Stress and coping in relation to gender and domicile among college students in Kashmir

Due to the long standing conflict, people in Kashmir, particularly college students, are subjected to constant stress. This has deleterious effects on their well-being and education. Unlike in safe situations, students living among conflict situations may have different experiences of stress and ways of dealing with it. As per transactional theory of stress and coping, the perception and reaction to the stressors may vary considerably among people. This variance may be attributed to some factors such as gender and domicile. Research regarding the role of gender and domicile on stress and coping is inconsistent and scarce. Therefore, the purpose of the current study was to examine the impact of gender and domicile on stress and coping among a sample of 80 college students in Kashmir. A 2*2 factorial design was employed for analysis. Results suggest that male participants display higher stress levels than female participants, if they belong to a rural domicile. Further, it suggests that all rural and female participants, in general, employ distancing coping strategy more frequently than their counterparts. In addition, female participants employ accepting responsibility as a coping strategy more frequently than male participants, if they belong to a rural domicile. Male participants, on the other hand, were found to employ positive reappraisal as a coping strategy more frequently than females; however, this was the case when their domicile was urban. Lastly, urban male participants were found to employ accepting responsibility and positive reappraisal as coping strategies more rigorously than rural males.
Vulnerability To Stress And Coping Strategies Among Undergraduate Students In Baghdad City

The study aims to determine the level of vulnerability to stress perceived by students and the sources of stress, identify strategies do students frequently use to relieve their stress, and find out the association between study variables and vulnerability to stress. Methodology Design: A cross-sectional, descriptive design was applied on present study. Participants: A purposive "non-probability" sample of 335 undergraduate students who were recruited from six colleges at Bab Al-Mu'aadham region which are college of Arts, Languages, Fine Arts, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing college. Results: The mean age of the participants in the study was 21.92 years (SD = 3.7), ranging from 17 to 34 years. Female and male students accounted for 68.7% and 31.3% of the study sample, respectively. The results describe that about three quarter of study participants has serious vulnerability to stress, the most stressful items were (I take quiet time for myself during the day, I attend regularly the social activities, I give and receive affection regularly, and I have at least 1 relative within different areas on whom I can rely) relative sufficiency (0.76, 0.76, 0.73) respectively. The result demonstrates that the most used coping strategies were (Develop new hobbies or recreations, Take your mind off unpleasant thoughts, Try other solutions to your problems if your first solutions don't work, Do something positive for yourself when you are feeling discouraged, and Keep from feeling sad) relative sufficiency (0.80, 0.77, 0.77, 0.76, 0.75) respectively. There were highly significant association between rank among brothers and sister, sex, and coping strategies and vulnerability to stress (p-value=.002), (p-value=.004) (p-value=.019) respectively. Conclusion: Stress disorders are very widespread among university students. In the process of preparing students for their future professions, a great deal is needed than absolute professional skills and necessary knowledge. Stress and coping strategies of senior high school students: basis for action plan

This study specifically aimed to make a plan of action on how to reduce the stress level of the Senior High School Students. In order to make a feasible action plan, the researchers determined the stress level and the coping strategies of the male and female students respectively. The researchers used the descriptive method of research. A total of 82 students were the respondents of the study. Adopted questionnaires were utilized in measuring the perceived level of stress and sources of stress of the students. Results showed that both male and female students had an average level of stress. The level of stress of both female and male students is average for academic and financial sources. Moreover, the female students had low level of stress for psychological and health related stressors while the male students had average level for the said stressors. ACADEMIC STRESS AND COPING STRATEGIES
In this study an attempt has been made to determine the common types of coping strategies used by students to deal with stressors and to study sex differences in coping strategies. This study examines the relationship between academic stress and coping strategies. The coping inventory used for the study was the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations-Short Form (CISS-SF). The CISS breaks its responses into 3 main coping types: task, emotion, and avoidance. The Student-Life Stress Inventory (SLSI) was used to measure stressors and reactions to stressors among university students. It indicates different types of stressors and reaction to the stressors as perceived by university students. Data were collected from 513 students studying at a public University of Shkodra in Albania, during the second semester of the academic year 2014–15. The target population of the study was all students who had registered for that particular semester. Stratified random sampling according to students' university academic year and branch`s study was used to select classes in which to invite students to participate in the study (10 students from each of branch and year study). Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 20). The students use more frequently task oriented coping style. There was a positively significant relationship between academic stress and emotion-oriented, task-oriented and avoidance-oriented coping style. The relationship between academic stress and emotion-oriented coping style is moderate, and the relationship between academic stress and avoidance-oriented coping style is week.
Coping Strategies for Four Factors of Stress Among UiTM Jasin Students

University students often face different kinds of stress such as problems with studies, family, friends and financial. This predisposes them to anxiety, sadness, anger and depression. To overcome their stress, students use different types of coping strategies. This study aims to investigate the stress level and the coping strategies by the university students and also to identify the relationship between the effects of stress based on their gender. The data in this study are primary data that were collected through direct questionnaire. Descriptive analysis and chi-square test were used to analyse the data. The result of this study indicates that a majority of the students have moderate level of stress. Many of the students become sad when they are in stress. In order to reduce the stress, most of the students sleep, followed by listening to music. The chi-square test shows no relationship between the effects of stress among female and male students.
