Electrical appliances power consumption tends to grow in proportion to the increase in the number of large-sized electric home appliances. These Projects describes the technology associated with the Remote Control of Electrical Loads Using GGSM Module. Using GSM networks, a control system has been projected that will act as an embedded system which can control appliances and other devices locally using built-in input and output peripherals. Also the system allow the user to effectively control house or office appliances and equipment via the mobile phone set by sending commands in the form of SMS messages and receiving the appliances status. The main conception behind this project is receiving a coded SMS to trigger or switch home electrical appliances through communication between GSM module and a microcontroller switching circuit.

In today`s modern world, everybody is becoming dependent on high technology and equipments to make one`s life easier and hassle free. So there naturally arises a need for any person to control the appliances when he is away from his residence or work place for a short period or is touring due to some personal or business purposes at a faraway location and also to reduce the manpower by controlling machineries using the GSM Technology and appliances in industries, factories etc by a human compiled computer based software which cuts off and initiates the functioning on user's initiation. Therefore, the system of controlling and monitoring from a remote place becomes all the more necessary. Many products are available in the market which helps us controlling home appliances through internet. Mobiles phones have become a necessity in today`s world, therefore, to find a cost effective and secure solution, mobiles phones are better than any other available solutions. This paper presents PC remote controlling with the Mobile Phone when the user is away from the place. General Terms SMS refers to messages by authenticated users thus ensuring a safe and a secure system of appliances control.

Monitoring and Controlling Electric Power Stations Using GSM Network

Kurdistan Journal of Applied Research

This paper introduces a system design for monitoring and controls the components of power generation station and substation with help of existing communication link based on GSM network. In this design, a selected Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) connected to the fields that needed to be monitored and continuously read changes in measurements of electrical parameters like voltage, current, bus bar circuit breakers…..etc.. These parameters have been monitored by PLC, on the base of conditions that PLC is programmed. PLC generates a text message and forward to other side; control center or mobile phone of engineer and technicians; who are responsible of monitoring. At control center, another GSM modem which has capability to connect with personal computer, receives that text massage using SMS and executes it. Software written with Vb.Net, works as Human Machine Interface (HMI) for this purpose. The system performance is acceptable in terms of errors in readings and time delay. The ...

Development of a GSM based Control System for Electrical Appliances

This paper presents the development and implementation of a Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) based control system for electrical appliances that enables the complete control of the interface on which it is based. GSM module was used for receiving short message service (SMS) from user's mobile phone that automatically enable the controller to take further action like switching ON and OFF electrical appliances such as fan, air-conditioner, light etc. The system was integrated with microcontroller and GSM network interface using C language. MPLAB software was utilized to accomplish the integration. The system is activated when user sends the SMS to the controller at home (regarded as Smart Home). Upon receiving the SMS command, the microcontroller unit then automatically controls the electrical appliances by switching ON or OFF the device according to the user's order. In other word, it reads message from the mobile phone and respond to control the devices according to the received message.
