Indian Journal of Oral Sciences, 2014

Abstract

Hemangioendothelioma is described as neoplasm of vascular origin, characterized by proliferation of endothelial cells around the vascular lumen. They are usually benign, but show variable grades of malignancy. They are slow growing tumors with destructive behavior and ability to metastasize and recur locally. They most commonly involve lungs, liver and musculoskeletal system and rarely involve head and neck, intestines, lymph node, pleura, peritoneum and stomach. Here, we present a case hemangioendothelioma of oral cavity and oropharynx in a 50-year-old male patient who presented with a palatal swelling.
