A Study on Employee Engagement through Employee Development in the Banking Sector of Pakistan: Case Study of a Private Bank- A Project of Abu Dhabi Business Consortium

This case study has been conducted to explore the significance of employee development and employee engagement in private banking sector in Pakistan. An investigative method has been opted to perform this study in order to scrutinize the effect that employee development has on the engagement of employees. This has been done selecting various branches and business units of a private sector bank as sampling units. A carefully designed questionnaire to particularly measure a number of relevant factors is provided to the employees. The factors include Self-Directed Learning, Empowerment, Employee Education, Participation and Skill Growth. Data has been collected from a sample size of 2128 employees. Analysis was done through the application of descriptive and rational statistic in SPSS version 23.0. Competitive environment provides an opportunity to grow for banks. Whereas in Pakistan banks are unable to create work engagement environment which, results in low job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The aim of this study was to investigate the determinants of employee engagement in Pakistan's banking sector. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from banking sector employees. The results clearly indicate that core self-evaluation and service environment of organization are positively and significantly related with employee engagement. This indicates the optimism of the employees which reflects that they invest more power, energy and engage their selves in the best way to utilize resources and time on work floor.

The Antecedents Affecting Employee Engagement and Organizational Performance

Employee engagement becomes an important issue as employee turnover rises due to the demand and shortage of skilful employees. Though organizational performances of many organizations have deteriorated due to high turnover rates and related issues such as high absenteeism, low loyalty and productivity, there is still a lack of academic research that addresses the antecedents required for high employee engagement in the food and beverage departments in the service industry. This paper focuses on the antecedents that influence employee engagement in food and beverage service departments, and literature reviewed indicates that there is a significant relationship between employee communication, employee development, rewards and recognition, and extended employee care. Among the antecedents, employee development forms the most significant contributor.

The current research study explores employee engagement in public and private sector. The study explores and enumerates the factors which would lead to employee engagement in public and private sector, in banks and insurance companies focusing on front line and managerial level of employees. The objective of the research study was also to investigate how public and private sectors influence employee engagement, in two types of organizations (Banks & Insurance) and at two levels of organizational hierarchy. Sample consisted of 280 employees working in public and private sector organizations. Employee engagement scale was developed by Gallup organization. The data were analyzed with the help of ANOVA and t-test in order to see the significance of difference among various groups. Employee Engagement was found to be better in case of private sector, and when Motivation was compared in two types of organizations within public and private i.e Bank and Insurance, it was found that the employees of Insurance had better motivation than Bank employees. Positive Feedback was better in case of private sector than public sector. The difference between the two was also found to be significant. Impact of Rewards and Leadership on the Employee Engagement: A Case Study from Banking Sector of Pakistan

Employee engagement has arisen as the prevalent executive conception in the current centuries. That is the level of commitment and involvement of a worker to the association and its principles. An engaged employee is conscious of occupational perspective, and workings with co-workers to increase performance inside the employment for the profit of the association. Employee engagement improves optimistic assertiveness between the workers to the association. That paper emphases on several aspects which lead toward employee engagement and whatever would corporation ensure to create the employees engaged. Appropriate consideration on engagement policies will raise the organizational efficiency in relations of sophisticated production, revenues, excellence, buyer gratification, employee preservation and improved adaptableness. Two hypothesis and also there are two objectives of our study and by using the statistical population of Banking Sector which cover the 150 employees of 12 banks and facts was collected by the standard questionnaire. Correlation coefficient was used through "ANOVA and IBM SPSS" for the data analysis. There are the two independent variables of our study which are rewards and leadership and one dependent variable which is employee engagement. Results presented the Positive relationship between Rewards and Employee engagement and also there is the Positive relationship between Leadership and Employee engagement.

During the past two decades, employee engagement became a very popular managerial construct. Organisations use different engagement building tools in order to stay competitive and improve performance. Though there is an increasing contribution in human resource consulting agencies on the concept of employee engagement, yet there is a shortage of academic studies on that construct, especially in emerging economies countries. This engagement gap grew more in importance amidst the waves of ongoing recession and resource scarcity battles prevailing in the Middle Eastern Region, in general, and in Egypt in particular.
