Identifying Factors of Sustainable Tourism in West Sumatera: A Qualitative Analysis

This study aims to determine the potential of West Sumatra as one of the world's tourism destinations in the development of sustainable tourism. West Sumatra is the only region in Indonesia that won the Best Platinum Province Award for Investment and Platinum Province Potential in the category of Tourism in Indonesia Attractiveness Award 2018. Sustainable tourism is to take full account of current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, tourism industry, environment and host community. This research was conducted quantitative and qualitatively by survey method by collecting data using indept-interview, observation, FGD and questionnaire involving six locations in West Sumatra which had very interesting tourist attractions. Inequality that occurs in this study is the achievement of sustainable tourism goals by optimizing service to the needs of tourists but by paying attention to the norms and cultural values of the Minang people who hold a strong religious principle called adat bersandi sarak and sarak basandi Kitabullah. This study very interesting because the development of the tourism industry in West Sumatra must be adapted to the culture of the Minang ethnic community, halal tourism which is one of the advantages of West Sumatra has made this area the Best Halal Tourism Destinations and No. 1 in the world today. The principle of the Minang ethnic community, one of which is by developing halal tourism, makes West Sumatra able to provide tourist specifications at the international level by becoming the main destination for Muslim tourists. The limitation of this research is that it has not been able to thoroughly explore the main factors in the development of sustainable tourism in West Sumatra with a focus on the local cultural order.

Implementation of Sustainable Tourism Model in Taman Wisata Alam Pantai Carita Pandeglang Banten, Indonesia

The strategic location of Taman Wisata Alam Pantai Carita is not far from the capital city of Jakarta and easy to access by public transportation. It takes two hours from Jakarta. Strategic location is supported by its natural tourism potential to be an attraction for tourists. The high level of domestic tourist visit is dominated by DKI Jakarta, West Java, and parts of Central Java. Tourism development in this region is focused on economic aspects. It has an impact on the exploitation of natural resources, human resources and local culture. Empirical facts show that the dimensions of sustainable tourism are in a weaknesses position. Analysis of the Concept of Sustainable Tourism in Maratua Island, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province

Sustainable tourism based on marine tourism on maratua island, berau regency, east Kalimantan province, Indonesia has challenges and perspectives from the side of tourists and tourists. PT. X and PT. Y was chosen as the object of research because it has CHSE certification from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. The implementation of sustainable tourism has challenges in the accessibility sector where the high price of airfares to berau districts. The ISO 26000 approach to the core subject environment is the basis for tourism actors to carry out the concept of sustainable tourism. The relevance to the SDGs for this research will focus on SDGs No. 8 on economic improvement and SDGs No. 14 on marine ecosystems. Tourists who have visited PT. X and PT. Y 97% stated that they would return to maratua to re-enjoy the beauty of maratua island. As many as 47% of tourists feel very satisfied with the services carried out by PT. X and PT. Y.

Sustainable Tourism: the Case in South Sulawesi

This study is to find clear understanding and new formulation in developing the existing tourism in South Sulawesi Province based on its nature and culture. One of the utilizations of nature and culture should be considered and promoted as sustainable tourism. The development of tourism looks brilliant because of the achievement of its economic contribution. However, current tourism management, especially in Indonesia, tends to neglect the ecological aspects of the environment and the social community. Sustainable Tourism Development in the Mandeh Tourism Area, Padang, West Sumatra

The number of tourist activities in the Mandeh Tourism Area must be supported by the appropriate tourism concept in its development. By paying attention to the potential possessed by the Mandeh Tourism Area, a development concept that is following its potential is needed, namely sustainable tourism development. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the conditions and potential of tourism as well as the tourist constraints of the Mandeh Tourism Area in implementing sustainable tourism and to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in West Sumatra Province. This study uses a mixed-method research approach that combines field observation, documentation, direct interviews and distributing questionnaires to 100 visitors who visited the Mandeh Tourism Area. The results obtained are that the condition of sustainable tourism in the Mandeh Tourism Area is currently still in the process of being developed following the document of the tourism development master plan of West Sumatra Province in the Revision of Planning for Tourism Objects in the Mandeh Region. Where in the development scenario, the Mandeh Tourism Area is at the exploration stage in the form of a tourist area life cycle and is still in a condition for community involvement, tourism activists from business actors and philanthropists in the form of providing the necessary infrastructure and tourism support facilities. The potential for sustainable tourism in the Mandeh Tourism Area, namely marine tourism with a variety of supporting tourist attractions, is expected to increase the interest of tourist visits. However, the current Covid-19 pandemic is a major obstacle in developing tourism in the Mandeh Region. The concept of sustainable tourism development applied by the Mandeh Tourism Area requires a strategy that is based on a small-scale approach, local management, and provides benefits to the community at large.

Sustainable Tourism and Socio-Economic Development in Likupang, North Minahasa: A Super Priority Destination of North Sulawesi, Indonesia

The focus of this research is a sustainable tourism development model with multidisciplinary approach including a socioeconomic approach in North Minahasa Regency. Potential tourism in the North Minahasa Regency are the areas with the potential attractions for natural tourism, cultural tourism, agro tourism and other tourism both developed and undeveloped. The purpose of this research was to create a model for sustainable tourism development in North Minahasa Regency with a multidisciplinary approach. This researcher used a mixed methodnamely by combining quantitative and qualitative research techniques. The field research consisted of a questionnaire survey using a Likert scale and observations at the locations studied to explore evidence of tourism management and development in North Minahasa regency both open-ended and closed-ended questions. The results of the research showed that the development of sustainable tourism in Likupang, North Minahasa as a super priority destination had an impact and provided positive benefits in tourism as well as social and economic aspects for the region and the people who live in the destination. Therefore, a sustainable tourism development and management model is needed to be implemented by all tourism pentahelix stakeholders, namely Academic, Business, Government, Community and Media.

Sustainable Tourism in Rural Area Development, Case Study: Kampung Tourism in Wanayasa, Purwakarta, West Java, Indonesia

This paper describes the development of rural area for sustainable tourism. This research stresses out the importance of strategic approach in the planning of sustainable development within the kampung Wanayasa in Purwakarta. Kampung Wanayasa offers many tourist attractions such as natural attractions, cultural attractions and man-made attractions. However, this area under study is not well imaged, commodified and packaged to be the rural tourism potential of the area. Serangan Village as a potential area is a representation of Denpasar City Government's policy on environmental conservation, history, and cultural values, the interests of the world of education, and the interests of cultural tourism full of attractions. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of government in the development of sustainable tourism in the Serangan Village, Denpasar, the role of the community in developing sustainable tourism in the Serangan Village, the role of social capital in the development of sustainable tourism in the Serangan Village, and analyze the influence of the role of the government, community participation, and social capital towards destination quality and sustainable tourism development in the Serangan Village. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative with partial least square (PLS). The results of this study are the role of government does not significantly influence the quality of destination in the village of Serangan. While community participation and social capital have a positive and significant effect on the destination quality in the Serangan Village. The role of government has a significant effect on sustainable tourism development, while community participation and social capital have no significant effect on sustainable tourism development in the Serangan Village. Destination quality has a positive and significant effect on sustainable tourism development. The quality of the destination does not mediate the effect of the role of government on sustainable tourism development in the Serangan Village. Destination quality mediates the effect of community participation on sustainable tourism development. Destination quality significantly mediates the effect of social capital on sustainable tourism development.
