The growing demands for goods, which has been accompanied with a negative effect on the environment and society as it escalates the environmental social disasters, has led to the increased pressure on supply chains to be sustainable. Due to the significance of sustainability, this study attempted to investigate the drivers of sustainable supply chain Management through proposing a conceptual model based on six hypotheses. An 18-item questionnaire were completed by 91 experts in the industry, the results of which were analysed using the partial least square-path modelling. The results of path modelling indicated that green product development is effective on the social issue through the environmental performance management and the green supply chain management. Moreover, the environmental performance management was found to be directly affected by the green supply chain management. Consequently, some implications were suggested regarding the significance of sustainable supply chain management and the manager's practice.
Sustainable Supply Chain Management: a Literature review on Brazilian publications

Based on the progress in the international research on sustainability and supply chains, this paper aims to analyze how the concept of Sustainable Supply Chain Management has been explored in papers published in major Brazilian journals and conference proceedings, especially regarding the research areas of operations management and sustainability. Recognizing the theme as incipient in Brazil, there are few published studies, mainly in relation to journals, with a total of 44 papers focused specifically on the topic. The literature review indicates that the understanding of the topic includes recurrent discussions with environmental or economic dimensions. However, a comprehensive definition of the concept, i.e., including social issues, is lacking. Therefore, this creates a research gap and an opportunity for Brazilian researchers to contribute to the gradually developing field.
Sustainability and Supply Chain Management: Publications in Brazil
The number of research papers linking sustainability with supply chain management is increasing around the world. The purpose of this paper is to analyse how the publications in Brazil are considering the relationship between sustainability and supply chain management. The methodology applied consists in five major steps: (1) selection of databases and journals, (2) selection of the papers, (3) reading of papers' abstracts to select only papers that are related to business and sustainability, (4) qualitative and quantitative analysis of the selected papersábstracts to define the main dimension of sustainability and sustainability aspect, and finally, (5) an evaluation of experts´esponses to a questionnaire in the field of sustainability and supply chain in Brazil. Scanning Insights on Sustainability And Supply Chain Management in Brazil

This paper aims to analyse how the publications in Brazil are considering the relationship between sustainability and supply chain management. For this end, a literature review was carried out in 120 Brazilian academic journals in which 124 papers were identified, from 2008 until 2013. When considering the Triple Bottom Line approach, the results show that sustainability research in Brazil is focusing on the environmental dimension and SCM research is focusing on the economic dimension. Additional inputs are provided by integrating the governance dimension in the analysis to underline which actions and policies are discussed in Brazil at a corporate level. To support the results a consultation of experts in the field of sustainability in Brazil was fulfilled, and three case examples are presented to explain some of the research results. The findings on publications in Brazil contrast with international studies, particularly on the topic of social performance and management in supply chains. One of the main conclusions is that there are large opportunities to increase publications about sustainability and SCM in the country and that Brazil presents some specificities in the field that researchers and managers shall consider.

This research aims at analyzing how sustainability is being incorporated by industrial focal companies on supply chain practices within Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. An exploratory qualitative research was performed using a multiple case study strategy where four focal companies were investigated. These focal companies actuate with their supply chains in the electric-electronic, energy and footwear industries. Findings concluded that the economic pillar is still the most important for the investigated companies. It was also noted that the environmental pillar is becoming even more relevant, and the social one is still incipient within the practices of the industrial focal companies of the supply chains investigated.
Practices of Sustainability in Supply Chains: Experiences in South America
This paper deals with practices and evidences of sustainability in supply chains. Research conducted by Thun and Müller (2010) in the German automotive industry, shows that the concept of sustainable management of the supply chain is still incipient, being still under development. We adopt a qualitative approach over two case studies carried out in South America. Information in this paper was gathered by literature review, interviews with experts in Brazil and also from works being conducted in Brazilian universities and research institutes. Within this context, the research presented includes case studies carried out in South America, specifically in Brazil: Supply chain of empty packings of pesticides and; Biofuels Supply chains. Besides contributing for the preservation of the atmosphere for future generations, the management of the supply chain for packings of pesticide develops an important socioeconomic function in Brazil. It generates more than 2.500 direct jobs along the whole chain (associations of distributors, cooperatives, collection points, carriers, recycling companies and services providers). Finally, it is clear that the competitiveness and sustainability of the supply chain of biofuels depend on the adoption of integrated logistics practices, without which the current failures prevents the consolidation of governmental defined goals.
An Exploration of Sustainable Supply Chain Perspective: Comparative Analysis

In the last two decades, sustainable supply chain management (sSCM) has received growing consideration and becomes an increasingly popular in both academic and corporate point of view. This can be seen by the number of papers published and in particular by journal special issues and also a vast number of laws, standards and regulations which force corporate to implement sSCM. As such, sustainability development recognizes the interdependence of economic, environmental and social issues. Several approaches were proposed for the framework and implementation of sSCM but in this research field still in embryonic state. The implementing of sSCM activities are still focused on environmental issues. Social and ethical issues were seen as less tangible and more difficult to address. As the separation of three pillars of sustainability, connections between each other were distracted. This paper provides a background to understand current trends in this multidisciplinary field and offers a comparative analysis-both of academic research and corporate practicable point of viewcomprising three parts: (1) conceptual framework (2) implementation and (3) sSCM performance measurement. Using the current literature and the result of an empirical study, the results of comparative study enhance the important role of considering the integration among core 3 dimensions (economic, environment and social) and others support issues related on sSCM are necessary to achieve the sSCM performance.

This paper’s goal is to analyze the external and internal pressures that lead organizations to adopt sustainable practices in order to supply chain management. The data collected by a research conducted in 131 organizations were analyzed through a CFA method. The results suggest that internal factors exercise influences on sustainable practices.
