Particle Actions in the Superspace, Square Root Operators and Quartions
Romanian Journal of Physics
In this work the physical and mathematical interpretation of the square root quantum operators is analyzed from the point of view of the theoretical group. To this end, we considered the relativistic geometrical action of a particle in the superspace in order to quantize it and to obtain the spectrum of physical states with the Hamiltonian remaining in the natural square root form. The generators of the group SO(3,1) are introduced and the quantization of this model is performed completely. The obtained spectrum of physical states, with the Hamiltonian operator in square root form, is compared with the spectrum obtained with the Hamiltonian in the standard form (i.e: quadratic in momenta). We show that the only states that the square root Hamiltonian can operate correspond to the representations with the lowest weights 1 4 λ = and 3 . 4 λ =
On the quantization of the superparticle action in proper time and the Lorentz group SO (3, 1)
In this work the problem of the square root operator is analyzed. To this end we considered a relativistic geometrical action of a particle in the superspace in order to quantize it and to obtain the spectrum of physical states but remaind the Hamiltonian in the natural square root form. We show, after complete quantization of the model, that the physical states that the square root Hamiltonian can operate correspond to the representations with the lowest weights λ = 1 4 and λ = 3 4 .
Unitary relativistic quantum theory
Materials Science and Nanotechnology
We consider a quantum particle as a wave packet, and find that the group velocities in the coordinate and momentum spaces are in agreement with the Hamilton equations only when the Lagrangian is considered in the time dependent phases, instead of the Hamiltonian in the conventional forms of these waves as solutions of the Schrödinger equation. We define a relativistic quantum principle, and derive a wave equation for a relativistic quantum particle, the relativistic kinematics and dynamics of the particle waves, the Maxwell equations and the Lorentz force of a field interacting with the particle waves, the relativistic transform of such a field, and the spin as a characteristic of the particle waves. We consider a quantum particle as a distribution of conservative matter propagating according to the General Theory of Relativity. We obtain the dynamics of this matter in a gravitational field, the propagation in plane waves perpendicular to geodesic tracks, and equations of conservation.
On the Group-Theoretical Approach to Relativistic Wave Equations for Arbitrary Spin
2021
Formulating a relativistic equation for particles with arbitrary spin remains an open challenge in theoretical physics. In this study, the main algebraic approaches used to generalize the Dirac and Kemmer–Duffin equations for particles of arbitrary spin are investigated. It is proved that an irreducible relativistic equation formulated using spin matrices satisfying the commutation relations of the de Sitter group leads to inconsistent results, mainly as a consequence of violation of unitarity and the appearance of a mass spectrum that does not reflect the physical reality of elementary particles. However, the introduction of subsidiary conditions resolves the problem of unitarity and restores the physical meaning of the mass spectrum. The equations obtained by these approaches are solved and the physical nature of the solutions is discussed.
Physics of Particles and Nuclei Letters, 2006
The geometical relativistic superparticle action is analyzed from theoretical group point of view. To this end an alternative technique of quantization, outlined by the authors in a previous work and based on the correct interpretation of the square root Hamiltonian, is used. We show that the obtained spectrum of physical states and the Fock construction in this previous work consist of squeezed states with the even and odd representations with the lowest weights λ = 1/4 and λ = 3/4 corresponding to four possible (nontrivial) fractional representations for the group decomposition of the spin structure. The conserved currents are computed, and a new relativistic wave equation is proposed and explicitly solved for the time-dependent case. The relation between the relativistic Schré odinger equation and the time-dependent harmonic oscillator is analyzed and discussed. ·μ¢μ¤¨É¸Ö ´ ²¨ § £¥μ³¥É·¨Î¥¸±μ£μ ·¥²Öɨ¢¨¸É¸±μ£μ ¤¥°¸É¢¨Ö ¤²Ö¸Ê ¶¥·Î ¸É¨Í¸É¥μ·¥É¨Î¥-±μ°Éμα¨ §·¥´¨Ö. Lie groups and quantum mechanics
Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2013
Mathematical modeling should present a consistent description of physical phenomena. We illustrate an inconsistency with two Hamiltonians -the standard Hamiltonian and an example found in Goldstein -for the simple harmonic oscillator and its quantisation. Both descriptions are rich in Lie point symmetries and so one can calculate many Jacobi Last Multipliers and therefore Lagrangians. The Last Multiplier provides the route to the resolution of this problem and indicates that the great debate about the quantisation of dissipative systems should never have occurred.
A Structurally Relativistic Quantum Theory. Part 1: Foundations
2012
The apparent impossibility of extending nonrelativistic quantum mechanics to a relativistic quantum theory is shown to be due to the insufficient structural richness of the field complex numbers over which quantum mechanics is built. A new number system with the properties needed to support an inherently relativistic quantum theory is brought to light, and investigated to a point sufficient for applications.
Group theoretical foundations of the Quantum Theory of an interacting particle
2015
We point out some obstacles raised by the lost of symmetry against the extension to the case of an interacting particle of the approach that deductively establishes the Quantum Theory of a free particle according to the group theoretical methods worked out by Bargmann, Mackey and Wigner. Then we develop an approach which overcomes these difficulties in the non relativistic case. According to our approach the different specific forms of the wave equation of an interacting particle are implied by particular first order invariance properties that characterize the interaction with respect to specific sub-groups of galileian transformations. Moreover, the possibility of yet unknown forms of the wave equation is left open.
Inherently relativistic quantum theory, Part I. The algebra of observables
2002
The present article is the first in a program that aims at generalizing quantum mechanics by keeping its structure essentially intact, but constructing the Hilbert space over a new number system much richer than the field of complex numbers. We call this number system ``the Quantionic Algebra''. It is eight dimensional like the algebra of octonions, but, unlike the latter, it is associative. It is not a division algebra, but "almost" one (in a sense that will be evident when we come to it). It enjoys the minimum of properties needed to construct a Hilbert space that admits quantum-mechanical interpretations (like transition probabilities), and, moreover, it contains the local Minkowski structure of space-time. Hence, a quantum theory built over the quantions is inherently relativistic. The algebra of quantions has been discovered in two steps. The first is a careful analysis of the abstract structure of quantum mechanics (the first part of the present work), the ...
