Efficacy of Amaranth(Amaranthus spp. L.) Plant as a Natural Dye Resource: Focused on Wool Dyeing
Textile Coloration and Finishing, 2020
In this study, the efficacy of Amaranth(Amaranthus spp. L.) as a natural dye resource was investigated for wool fabrics. It is known that a large amount of flavonoid and anthocyanin colorant are contained in leaves and stems, as well as red flowers. The optimum condition of dyeing was 1.3% of dye concentration(o.w.b.) at 100°C for 60 minutes, resulting the K/S value, 23.43 and R Munsell color on the wool fabrics. Al, Fe, Zinc and Titanium were used as a mordant. The mordant improved the dye uptake, regardless of the mordant type and mordant method. The pre-mordanting method was more effective than the post-mordanting method. Al premordanted fabric showed the highest K/S, 30.02. Light fastness and washing fastness were high in grades 4-5 and 5, and rubbing fastness was good in grades 4 and 4-5 in dry condition, but low in grades 2-3 and 3 in wet condition. The dry cleaning fastness was excellent in all 5 grades. However, the alkaline perspiration fastness ratings were low in grades 2-3 and 3. The results show Amaranthus spp. L. colorant can be used as a functional natural dye for wool fabrics.
Korea’s Entry into the Wig Market and the Birth of Korean Wig Workers
Yuksabipyoung, 2021
Korea entered the US wig market in the mid-1960s and rapidly grew at once. This was possible in a trade environment where wigs were popular as fashion accessories in the West from the 1950s, and the United States participated in the Vietnam War and regulated the trade of Chinese people. Korean wig workers processed Asian hair from underdeveloped countries, including Korean hair, to suit the taste of whites in the West. In the late 1960s, when the fashion changed from human hair wigs to synthetic fiber wigs in the United States, Korean wigs responded with mass-production of small items, and mass-produced low-wage wig workers. As a result, the price of wigs became cheaper, and blacks joined the wig consumers, which in conflict with the American black human rights movement led to a decline in wig prevalence, leading to a reduction in wig workers in Korea.

Seaweed is main commodity with abundant amount of Indonesian waters. Seaweed contains naturally bioactive compounds that acts as antioxidant and tyrosinase inhibitor which inhibit melanin formation and the latest approach used to skin lightening. The aim of this research were to determine chemical characterization such as heavy metal, secondary metabolite (phytochemical compounds), moisture, vitamin C and E, antioxidant activity and total plate count (TPC) on dry simplisia and slurry of S. plagyophyllum and E. cottonii. Total microbe of S. plagyophyllum amounted 2,3×102 colony⁄g with moisture content 16,71% and E. cottonii amounted 2,2×103 colony⁄g with moisture content 19,79%. Brown seaweed, S. plagyophyllum, did not contain dangerous heavy metal. Vitamin C value in both spesies of seaweed were 212,95 mg/kg forS. plagyophyllum and 15,95 mg/kg for E. cottonii. Vitamin E of S. plagyophyllum amounted 363,86 mg/kg and 0,23 mg/kg for E. cottonii. IC50 value of S. plagyophyllum was 109 ...

This research study was to develop methods for inhibiting the germination of cotton seeds. Germination rates after heating treatment at 80℃ with 10, 20, 30, 40 min. were 9.3, 9.3, 5.3 and 1.3 percentage, respectively. Heat treatment over 85℃ with 10 min. caused no germination of cotton seeds. Germination was significantly reduced with gamma rays treatment more than 10,000 gy, while the treatment within 2,000-8,000 gy induced less effects. Microwave processing for 30 seconds and 60 seconds inhibit the germination of cotton seed under 8 and 0%, respectively. As a physical treatment, rollmill milling with 1.5, 2, 2.5 mm gap inhibited any germination of cotton seeds. The optimum gap of roll-mill for processing physical cracking was below 51% of the thickness of seed.
짧은 섬유상간의 접합을 가진 Silicon Carbide Web 복합재료의 분율별 열전도 거동
Journal of the Korean Ceramic Society, 2012
Silicon carbide(SiC) exhibits many unique properties, such as high strength, corrosion resistance, and high temperature stability. In this study, a SiC-fiber web was prepared from polycarbosilane(PCS) solution by employing the electrospinning process. Then, the SiCfiber web was pyrolyzed at 1800 o C in argon atmosphere after it was subjected to a thermal curing. The SiC-fiber web (ground web)/ phenolic resin (resol) composite was fabricated by hot pressing after mixing the SiC-fiber web and the phenolic resin. The SiC-fiber web composition was controlled by changing the fraction of filler (filler/binder = 9:1, 8:2, 7:3, 6:4, 5:5). Thermal conductivity measurement indicates that at the filler content of 60%, the thermal conductivity was highest, at 6.6 W/mK, due to the resulting structure formed by the filler and binder being closed-packed. Finally, the microstructure of the composites of SiC-fiber web/resin was investigated by FE-SEM, EDS, and XRD.
