Decentralized target localization by multiple missiles (original) (raw)
2009
Abstract
A target localization method and the Salvo attack case with multiple missiles, equipped with a passive tracking sensor, are considered. A hybrid target localization filter for the passive sensor equipped missile is presented, which is composed of EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) for using its own measurement, and PF (Particle Filter) for merging the other's measurement in multiple missile involved salvo attack case. The proposed tracking filter just uses the other missile's measurements only, so it is not affected by the performance of the other missile's tracking filter. If the missiles are equipped with only a passive sensor for target tracking and communicated by data-link, they can localize the target without performing passive ranging using the proposed tracking filter. It shows the possibility of applying passive sensor equipped missiles to the impact time critical Salvo-attack case.
