Effect of Supply Chain Drivers on Organization Performance. Evidence from Performance of Cement Manufacturing Firms in Kenya

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of supply chain drivers on the performance of Cement Manufacturing firms. A descriptive research design was used. The target population of the study was Managers or equivalent from Six (6) departments is Procurement, finance, legal, stores, human resource and quality control because they are directly concerned with the supply chain. The sample sizes were 83 respondents from a target population of 500. The study adopted the use of a questionnaire as the main research instrument. The study adopted both quantitative and qualitative approaches, implying that both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were employed. Quantitative data collected from the questionnaire were analyzed statistically using the Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS version 24). The study tested the significance level of each independent variable against the dependent variable at 95% confidence level using ANOVA, Correlation and regression techniques. The results revealed that commitment from the top management and lead to an effective collaboration between the firm and its suppliers. Furthermore, collaboration with the suppliers plays an instrumental role in reducing the lead time. Therefore, firms have to work collaboratively to serve the customers.

INFLUENCE OF ELECTRONIC ORDER PROCESSING ON SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE OF SUGAR PROCESSING FIRMS IN KENYA

The aim of this study was to establish the influence of electronic procurement practices on supply chain performance of sugar processing firms in Kenya guided by specific objective, to establish the influence of electronic order processing practice on supply chain performance. Mixed research design was applied and the target population comprised of 12 sugar processing firms in Kenya with a target population of 7,584. Stratified random sampling was applied to come up with a sample size of 367. Data was gathered by a self-administered drop and pick questionnaire, interviews and observation. The results reveal that there is significant relationship between electronic order processing practice and supply chain performance. The study concludes that electronic order processing practice enhances supply chain performance. The study recommends that Sugar firms in Kenya need to incorporate all the electronic order processing practices into the system to enable improve their supply chain performance.

The Effect of Purchasing Management on Operational Performance of Kenyan Large Manufacturing Firms, with Supply Chain Strategies as a Mediator

Background The study examined the relationship between purchasing management and operational performance and also mediation role of supply chain strategies on the relationship between purchasing management and operational performance. The study focused on large manufacturing firms in Kenya. Methodology A Cross-sectional survey design was employed, whereby data was collected between November 2019 and February 2020. The study used proportionate simple random sampling to select the firms. The Hayes process macro was used in the analysis. Findings and Implications Purchasing management was established to be a significant determinant of operational performance. Even with the introduction of supply chain strategies, the effect of purchasing management on operational performance was still significant. Similarly, the study established a significant partial mediation effect of supply chain strategies on the effect of purchasing management on operational performance. Value The study enriches the literature on the link between supply chain strategies, purchasing management, and operational performance. The practical application of recommendations made from this study goes a long way in the formulation of supply chain strategies in the manufacturing environment.

Effects of Buyer-Supplier Relationships on Supply Chain Performance ( A case study of Kenya Institute of Special Education) Kasarani Kenya.

ABSTRACT The study focused on the effects buyer-supplier relationships on procurement performance in Government Tertiary Training Institutions and was carried out within Nairobi County, a case study of Kenya Institute of Special Education, Kasarani. A lot of studies have been conducted on buyer-supplier relationship based on four variables (trust, commitment, communication and cooperation). However, these studies did not look at the effect of these relationships on procurement performance. The specific objectives were: to establish the effect of trust on procurement performance in government tertiary training institution; to find out the effect of communication to suppliers on procurement performance; To analyse the effect of supplier`s commitment on procurement performance and to determine the effect of cooperation on procurement performance. The research questions were to find out how trust affects procurement performance in government tertiary training institution? What are the effects of communication to suppliers on procurement performance? How does commitment by suppliers affect procurement performance? and what are the effects of cooperation on procurement performance in government tertiary training institution?. The study will benefit KISE by encouraging them to adopt buyer-supplier relationships. Literature reviewed showed that that formal communication of supplier evaluations positively influenced BSR. The descriptive design was employed in the study. This study used purposive sampling and the data collection instrument used was a Questionnaire. The data was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques, and findings presented in the form of frequency distribution tables and pie charts. The findings showed that all variables on the study have positive effect on procurement performance. The study concluded that commitment, trust, cooperation and communication are important in buyer-supplier relationship. Finally the study recommended that this study be replicated in different business sectors within the Nairobi region

P a g e 1 ASSESSMENT OF FACTORS AFFECTING SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE IN KENYA PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS-A CASE OF THE JUDICIARY

The aim of this study was to investigate factors affecting Supply Chain Management performance within the Kenyan Public Institutions, and covered the case of the Judiciary. The objectives of the study were; establishing the effect of Strategic Supplier Partnerships, Information Sharing, Training and Development and Human Resource Capacity on Supply Chain Management Performance. The study was descriptive by design. There are 159 supply chain management staffs of the Judiciary within the country. Out of these, the researcher randomly sampled 48 staff to which the questionnaires were administered. A cluster sampling methodology which allocates selected samples to existing geographical divisions in the country will be used. Data was collected through the questionnaire which was organized to answer set objectives in the study. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics i.e. frequency distributions and measures of central tendencies. The results of the survey were presented using tables, charts and graphs. The SPSS computer software was used to aid the analysis. The study used ANOVA to test the level of significance of the variables on the dependent variable at 95% level of significance. In addition, the study conducted a multiple regression analysis. The study established that strategic supplier partnership, information sharing, human resource capacity and training and development had a positive influence on supply chain management performance of the Kenya's public Institutions.

Influence of Supplier Management Practices on Supply Chain Performance in County Governments of Kenya: A Case of Busia County

The aim of the study was to establish the influence of supplier management practices on supply chain performance in the county governments in Kenya. Descriptive research design was used for the study. The target population of this study was 86 procurement related personnel in Busia County government. The quantitative data was entered into SPSS for analysis. Both quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques were used. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics while qualitative data was analyzed by the use of content analysis. According to the model summary, the coefficient of determination (R 2 ) was used to measure how far the regression model’s ability to explain the variation of the independent variables. It was notable that there existed a relationship between independent variables and dependent variable with a correlation coefficient of 0.898.
