INFLUENCE OF EMPLOYEE TRAINING ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE: A CASE OF KISII COUNTY GOVERNMENT, KENYA.

Employee training plays a crucial role in ensuring that staffs in organizations have the desired skills and knowledge for better discharge of the assigned duties: to attain desired organizational objectives. Employee training not only ensures better performance but also enhances individual satisfaction in terms of self-actualization: hence, reduces turnover rates. Past studies on influence employee training and organizational performance have majorly focused on private organizations that aim at making profit and leaving public organizations under researched: especially in developing countries that tend to invest heavily in capacity building of employees through regular training programs. This study focused on Kisii county government, which is part of the new devolved system of government in Kenya. The objective was to establish the influence of employee training on organizational performance. The study employed a descriptive research design. The target population was 5111 employees who work in the county government: A sample size of 357 employees used. The sample size got through use of Krejcie & Morgan (1970) table for cases of finite population sizes. The main data collection instrument used was questionnaire. Data analysis done using descriptive and inferential statistics and results presented using tables and figures. Analysis of Human Resource Development as a Source of Competitive Advantage Among Leading Telecommunication Companies in Kenya

This study aimed at establishing the role of Human Resource Development as a Source of competitive advantage towards enhancement of performance of Telecommunication Companies in Kenya. The study used survey research design as it was considered most appropriate in facilitating the collection of relevant data whose results were generalized to a defined population. The study used questionnaires and interview methods. A sample of 93 respondents mainly top and middle level managers from 4 top telecommunication companies in Kenya was scientifically determined. A response rate of 90.3% was obtained. Data collected was analyzed using the SPSS software. Linear regression and other statistical tests were used to establish the nature and effect of various variables under investigation. The present study sought to explore the training practices used at KRA and to bring into the fore the effects of adopted employee training practices on the performance of employees in both the operational and managerial levels. A quantitative research approach was adopted based on a case study of KRA headquarters with all the 179 employees making up the target population. Stratified sampling will be used to select all employees who have joined the firm or have changed their position in the last five years between the years 2012 to 2017. This paper assesses the effect of training dimensions on employee performance, a case of Mumias Sugar Company, Kenya. The study sought to find out; the effects of training needs assessment on employee performance, the effects of Training contents on employee performance and the effects of Training evaluation on employee performance. The study targeted a total of 150 employees and 6 departmental heads. Questionnaires and interview schedules were used. The departmental heads were selected using purposive sampling while the employees were selected through simple random sampling. The researcher used content validity; internal consistency was achieved through the use of a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient which yielded an alpha of 0.86 implying that the instruments were reliable. ASSESSMENT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES ON EMPLOYEE PERFOMANCE IN OIL MARKETING FIRMS IN NAIROBI, KENYA

ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to assess the training and development on employee performance in oil marketing firms in Nairobi, Kenya. The research design used a descriptive survey. The population of the study included three simple randomly selected oil marketing firms in Nairobi. The researcher used stratified random sampling technique to select the 60 respondents in total of all the 3 companies who formed the sample population size for the study. Data was collected through questionnaires. Data analysis used regression analysis, descriptive analysis, and cross tabulations. The study therefore was to examine the human resource training and development practices of oil marketing firms in Nairobi. The results therefore led to the conclusion that training had led to employee performance improvement. The study recommends that companies should invest more in training of employees as this may have a positive result on the employee performance and consequently on the performance of the organization in general.

EMPLOYEE TRAINING AND THE PERFORMANCE OF EMBU COUNTY GOVERNMENT, KENYA

Implementation of strategies is one of the most challenging task County Governments are facing in Kenya today including Embu County. Due to challenges of implementing formulated strategies Embu County Government has been experiencing declining performance. Therefore, it is on this background that this study sought to establish the effect of employee on the performance of Embu County Government. The specific objective of the study was to determine the effect of employee training on performance of Embu County Government. The study was informed by resource based view and holistic strategy implementation theories. The study adopted a descriptive research design and census sampling approach where the respondents of the study comprised top level management of Embu County Government. Primary data was obtained by use of questionnaires containing semi structured questions with secondary data being obtained from strategic plans and sessional papers on development of Counties in Kenya. Validity of the instrument was determined by using experts in strategic management in the school of Business, Kenyatta University while reliability of the instrument was determined by using Cronbach Alpha coefficients of 0.7. Qualitative data and quantitative data was analyzed using content analysis, correlation and regression analysis respectively.95% confidence level, regression analysis was used to test for statistical significance between variables. The study established that there exist a positive significant relationship between employee training and performance of Embu County Government. Since employee training had a positive effect on performance of Embu County Government the study recommends that more funds be allocated for training to enhancing employee capability to implement formulated strategies hence improving the overall county performance.
