The Identification of Factors That Influence Farmers' Buying Behaviour of New Agricultural Tractors
Agrekon, 1994
The purchase of tractors by the participants in the various agricultural sectors continues to be problematic due to the high price of tractors and its accompanying implements. The purchase is thus a .. substantial capital investment in equipment that results in a thorough pre-purchase examination of the various alternatives and the choice of a manufacturer. Since the average age of agricultural tractors is constantly increasing, the probability of replacement purchases of tractors is also increasing. This scenario demanded a study in buying behaviour that examined what factors are deemed to be important by the buyers of tractors for agricultural use. Eight factors were identified by means of principle varimax factor analysis. These factors are: Product and service qualities, Operational qualities, Pre-purchase planning, After-sales service, Ergonomics, Ease of operation, Cost of credit and Potential savings. These factors declare a cumulative variance of 55,65 per cent. Three major groups could benefit from the results. First, the buyers of agricultural tractors since it could increase their level of understanding of the important considerations that are connected to the replacement of old tractors. Secondly, agricultural economists and advisors should be able to increase the quality of their advice if they have a better understanding of tractor buying behaviour. Thirdly, financial institutions may benefit by a more in-depth knowledge why a farmer applies for a loan to buy a new tractor. 1.

Smart agriculture is gaining a lot of attention recently, owing to technological advancement and promotion of sustainable habits. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) play a crucial role in smart agriculture by aiding in different phases of agriculture. The contribution of UAVs to sustainable and precision agriculture is a critical and challenging issue to be taken into account, particularly for smallholder farmers in order to save time and money, and improve their agricultural skills. Thence, this study targets to propose an integrated group decision-making framework to determine the best agricultural UAV. Previous studies on UAV evaluation, (i) could not model uncertainty effectively, (ii) weights of experts are not methodically determined; (iii) importance of experts and criteria types are not considered during criteria weight calculation, and (iv) personalized ranking of UAVs is lacking along with consideration to dual weight entities. Herein, nine critical selection criteria are identified, drawing upon the relevant literature and experts' opinions, and five extant UAVs are considered for evaluation. To circumvent the gaps, in this work, a new integrated framework is developed considering q-rung orthopair fuzzy numbers (q-ROFNs) for apt UAV selection. Specifically, methodical estimation of experts' weights is achieved by presenting the regret measure. Further, weighted logarithmic percentage change-driven objective weighting (LOPCOW) technique is formulated for criteria weight calculation, and an algorithm for personalized ranking of UAVs is presented with visekriterijumska optimizacija i kompromisno resenje (VIKOR) approach combined with Copeland strategy. The findings show that the foremost criteria in agricultural UAV selection are "camera," "power system," and "radar system," respectively. Further, it is inferred that the most promising UAV is the DJ AGRAS T30. Since the applicability of UAV in agriculture will get inevitable, the developed framework can be an effective decision support system for farmers, managers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

From different economical and legal aspects the use od drones is described. The use of drones in agriculture can greatly contribute to the development of precise farming, reducing production costs and the production of healthier food.
Farmer preferences for adopting precision farming technologies: a case study from Italy
European Review of Agricultural Economics, 2020
Precision farming (PF) technologies can help to mitigate the environmental impact of agriculture by reducing fertiliser use and irrigation while saving cost for the farmer. However, these technologies are not widely adopted in Europe. We study farmers’ willingness to adopt PF technologies based on a choice experiment. Among other determinants, we explore the role of social influence for the valuation of PF technology features. The data are analysed using mixed and latent class logit models. Our results show that knowledge of fellow farmers who adopted the technology positively influences the valuation of PF technology features, stressing the importance of networks.

Precision agriculture (PA) technologies can potentially reduce losses and waste of inputs and improve crop yield. This study aims to evaluate farmers' perceptions of the benefits of precision agriculture technologies, and their impact on technology adoption using probit models in Lagos State. 120 participants including poultry farmers were purposely selected for the study in Ikorodu and Epe Local Government Areas. The data were collected with the use of structured interviews and questionnaires on the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants and the perception of PA benefits. Percentages, mean and standard deviation were used to summarise the socio- demographic and perception of PA benefit. The probit model was used to analyse the explanatory factors in predicting the probability of the adoption of the model. 87% of participants indicated they agreed that PA technology and services would make farm managers more efficient. The majority of adopters (85%) as against (15%) of non-adopters, out of 100 agreed that PA technologies and services are an important contributor to their farm's current financial profitability. three socio-demographics, namely, literacy (P≤0.05), gender (P<0.01) and farm size (P≤0.05); and six PA benefit perception variables- Early Adopter (P≥0.005), supervisor (P≤0.05), Ease P≤0.01), financial profitability(P≤0.05), cost-saving(P≤0.05) and yield improvement(P≤0.05) are significant and positively associated with a higher probability of adopting PA technology and service. It was concluded that farmers’ perceptions of the benefits of PA technology vary, and this perception goes a long way in determining whether or not they will adopt PA technology and services.
