Evaluating the Effect of Dill (Anethum graveolens L.) SeedEssence on Pain and Vital Sign of Cesarean Delivery with SpinalAnesthesia

Background & objectives: Pain is one of the most common post-operative complications of cesarean section, which is very important for mother in nursing a baby and breastfeeding. Finding ways to overcome this pain has always been a concern for researchers. Considering the application of plants in traditional medicine as sedatives, this study evaluated the effect of Dill seed oil on post-operative pain in patients with spinal anesthesia. Methods: This double-blind, clinical trial was conducted on pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria and referred to Hajar hospital in Shahrekord, Iran during 2015-2016. By simple random sampling, the patients were divided into two groups. Evaluation of Analgesic effects of Clove Extracton Male Offspring of Surrey Female Miceduring Lactation

Background & aim: The analgesic effects of Clove plant is due to the presence of phenolic substances. Since no study has yet evaluated the analgesic effect of this plant extract during lactation, hencethe present study aimed to evaluate the analgesic effect of clove oil orally on offspringmalemiceduringlactation. Methods: Inthe present experimental study, two groupsoffemalemice, receiving cloveoil and control groupwere used. After delivery, animalsweretreatedorallywith cloveextract at the dose of 4% on the first day of delivery. In order toassess pain,formalin was used inmaleoffspringafterthirty daysofbirth. Data were analyzed using GraphPad prismstatistical software. Results: The results of this study showed that treating lactating female mice during lactation by clove oil induced analgesic effects of male offspring and this analgesia in the chronic phase of itself was shown significantly (P<0.01). Conclusions: Analgesic effectinduced byfeedingratswithcloveextractinmalemice possibly will be favorable inclinical usein the near future.

Presacral Neurectomy as a Promising Treatment in Patients with Treatment-resistant Pain of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a painful chronic disorder in premenopausal period that causes severe pelvic pain. It could be problematic for both the patient and physician since routine analgesic drugs may not resolve the symptoms. Therefore, various destructive surgical treatments are used in these patients and presacral neurectomy is one of the best and most recommended surgical methods. This paper reports pre sacral neurectomy operation that was performed in Sari Imam Khomeini Hospital for the first time on a 31-yearold woman suffering from severe mid pelvic pain. She was resistant to treatment but favorable results were observed after the operation.

Prevalence of Cesarean Section and Its Causes in Governmental Obstetric Hospitals of KASHAN-2014

Background & objectives: Cesarean section has important role in reducing mortality rate and complications of delivery in both mothers and fetus. However, high rate of cesarean section is a major issue in the modern obstetrics. According to the World Health Organization, the expected rate of cesarean section should be 10-15 percent in different countries. In Iran, cesarean rate is about 50-65 percent. Given the high prevalence of cesarean section, this study was conducted to determine the prevalence of cesarean and its causes in governmental obstetric hospitals of Kashan in 2014. Effectiveness of Light Pressure Stroking Massage Therapy on Patients' Satisfaction and Quality of Pain Control after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery

Introduction & Objective: Pain on mid-sternotomy incision site after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG) is a common problem has a negative effect on quality of life and follow-up treatment. Thus the present study aimed to determine the effect of light massage therapy by patient's Light Pressure Stroking Massage Therapy on Patients' Satisfaction and Quality of Pain Control in post-CABG patients. Effect of Portulaca oleracea L vice versa silver sulfadiazine on burn wound healing in Balb/c mice

Background and aim: The effect of herbal medicine with antitoxidant activity on burn wound healing has been proven in various studies. Portulaca oleracea L (Purslane) is a rich source of antioxidants and fatty acids. This study was carried out to compare the effect of purslane and silver on the second-degree burn wound healing in Balb/c mice. Methods: In this preclinical study, burn wounds were made with a hot plate on the back of 85 Balb/c mice. Four groups of mice were treated topically for 21 days by vaseline, silver salfadiazin, 1% and 10% purslane. Wound size on days 0, 7, 14 and 21 were measured. Data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and test. Results: Results showed that the recovery was observed in silver group, 10% purslane, 1% purslane and vaseline, respectively. There was no significant difference in burn wound healing between silver and 10% purslane groups on days 14 and 21 (P>0.05), but significant difference between vaseline and 10% purslane groups on days 14 and 21 (P<0.05). Conclusion: Regarding to the finding of this study, extracts of 10% purslane expedites the wound healing process in mice. Therefor, it might be beneficial in patients with burn wound.
