Presenting a new model for performance measurement of the sustainable supply chain of Shoa Panjereh Company in different provinces of Iran (case study)

International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, 2019

Evaluation of a supply chain is one of the most important measures for each organization. In the meantime, the simultaneous improvement approach of the economic, social and environmental performance in the field of supply chain management has attracted many researchers in recent decades. One of the suitable methods for this type of evaluation is the use of data envelopment analysis models. In the present article, the supply chain of Shoa Company has been evaluated on four levels: glass supply unit, profile supply unit, window manufacturing unit and installation unit. The company evaluation has been carried out for 18 different provinces of Iran and in total with 15 different economic, social and environmental criteria in two phases. In the first phase, the efficiency is obtained for each unit of the supply chain of the company separately based on the three aspects of sustainability, using the data envelopment analysis models; and, in the second phase, the efficiency obtained in the first phase was used as the new model ideals. The new model, which is a combination of the data envelopment analysis approach and the ideal planning, is the overall assessment of the company's supply chain for the Shoa Co. based on sustainability criteria. The purpose of this study was to provide a comprehensive model for evaluating all parts of the supply chain of organizations with all aspects of sustainability.

Sustainable supply chain in food industries: Drivers and strategic sustainability orientation

Cogent Business & Management

Today, the concept of sustainable development in supply chain management is introduced as one of the basic concepts in production management. Paying attention to economic, social and environmental needs of the society is essential in gaining competitive advantage in the global market. Therefore, in order to achieve sustainable development, appropriate programs and strategies should be considered by managers throughout the supply chain. Moreover, the internal and external drivers of the environment in the supply chain will lead organizations-willingly or not-towards sustainability. Hence, this paper examines the internal and external drivers in order to study strategic sustainability orientation. The results showed that internal drivers, including attitudes of managers and their support for sustainable programs, has a positive impact on strategic sustainability orientation. The study showed that external drivers of the organizations affect internal drivers, and compared to external drivers, internal drivers have a more important role in creating sustainable orientation within an organization. In addition, the mediating role of internal drivers in relation to external drivers and strategic sustainability orientation is approved. This study is conducted on 120 food industry companies of Iran.

An Overview of Sustainable Supply Chain for Company’s Goal

Proceedings of the International Conference on Natural Resources and Technology, 2019

There are three common company's goal achievement, i.e. economic, social and environmental perspective achievement. Business profitability, stability, social equity, improvement of people's relationship, environmental responsibility, friendly technologies, minimize ecological scarcities and reduce the environmental risks are examples for that company's goal achievement. Due to that achievement, there must be a comprehensive and integrated working system of groups that connected to all operations in various operations. This will give benefits for customer in term of using products and services with quality manner. This network relationship is known as the supply system. Integration between supply systems and sustainability is contained in strategic and transparent planning and implementation steps. The longstanding economic performance improvement from each organization is achieved in the organization's aim in the fundamental coordination of business operations between the main organizations. For implementing sustainability in the supply system, good management is needed. This is known as Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM). SSCM contains information, materials and capital flow management along with collaboration between companies throughout the supply system. The company's efforts to decrease the negativity of environmental effects in their supply systems require SSCM to be combined with various concepts.

UNSUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN OF SUSTAINABLE FOOD COMPANIES

Journal of Management Marketing & Logistics, 2022

Purpose - This study aims to investigate sustainable food companies within the scope of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). It also aims to reveal what are the challenges food companies face in their sustainable supply chains. In addition, it is aimed to show which points should be focused on in sustainable supply chain management. Methodology - For this purpose, sustainability pages on the corporate website of 30 food companies operating in Turkey were analyzed with content analysis by adopting a qualitative research paradigm and an interpretive framework. While analyzing the contents, first of all, it was investigated which dimensions the food companies attach importance to in the Triple Bottom Line approach. Secondly, the elements that food companies pay attention to while they integrate the supply chain into their sustainability practices were examined. Lastly, it was analyzed in which dimension of the sustainable supply chain management the food companies are located. Findings - The findings of the study indicated that 23 of the food companies were found to be sustainable businesses according to the Triple Bottom Line approach. However, it was demonstrated that the same companies could not provide sustainability in supply chain management. In this sense, it was understood that one of the biggest reasons for this is that companies ignore the concept of “risk management”. Conclusion - As a result, the points that food companies have difficulty in sustainable supply chain management have been revealed. With this study, practical contributions were provided to the companies in terms of enabling them to evaluate themselves on this issue. In addition to this, the study also contributes to the field by building on the studies investigating sustainable supply chain management and providing a different perspective with the investigation of the issue from a TBL approach.

More dimensions than the economic , social and environmental are needed for an effective assessment of the sustainability in the supply chain ; in particular supply chain collaboration and sustainable relationships

2012

The life cycle approach is widely used in the analysis of sustainability. Its application to supply chains is necessary since the product flows, from processing of raw materials to the final customer, are considered. The role of the organizational aspects, expressed in terms of relationships between the supply chain agents, is little considered in the life cycle analysis approach. The aim of this paper is to extend the scope of the food chain life cycle analysis by adding the organizational dimension to the environmental, economic and social ones. Within this context, Collaboration and Sustainable Relationships concepts have been explored based on a literature survey. A theoretical framework, describing their role in assessing the organizational dimension in the life cycle analysis of the food supply chains, is defined. A hypothesis on their joint influence on the supply chains performances is formulated.

A Framework for Implementing Sustainable Supply Chain Management

Industrialization has done a considerable amount of damage to the society and environment including depletion of natural resources, wastes generation during production, rising transport emissions and congestion, nondisposability of goods at the end of their product life-cycle, and stressful work environment for employees. These emerging issues have put forth the need for greater emphasis on sustainability issues and consequently development of sustainable supply chains. In this paper, a framework is modelled to implement sustainable supply chain by identifying the economic, environmental and social enablers. Interpretive structural modelling (ISM) tool is used to establish relationships and hierarchy between the enablers of sustainable supply chain.
