Due mostre e il progetto di un museo sul falso. Una storia tra Francia e Italia (1930-1955), dossier «Penser le faux», in “Studiolo” 11, 2014, pp. 65-83 (original) (raw)
Fake news, conspiracy theories, forgeries: contemporary society appears to be particularly sensitive to the theme of "fake" and even history easily becomes the object of falsification. Considering different types of uses, reuses and abuses of history, the book reviews the many reasons that lead to the production of fakes: frustrated ambitions, economic interests, thirst for power. Accustomed by trade to dealing with fact checking, the authors of the contributions investigate the different forms of mystification of reality, starting from a common premise: no opposition between the "bad guys" (forgers and their accomplices, aware or unaware of the deception) and the "good guys" (the champions of truth, honesty and authenticity), but research into the origins and purposes of revisitations, errors and inventions.
