The Nickel End of the Ternary System Nickel-Aluminum-Boron (original) (raw)

1962

Abstract

The nickel end of the ternary system nickel- aluminumboron was described by means of the fusion projection and of an isothermal cross section at 800 deg C. In addition to the known phrases in both binary boundary systems, nickel- aluminum and nickel - beron, a congruent fused ternary boride Ni/sub 60/Al/sub 9/ B/sub 31/ occurs. Its structure is cubic (D8/sub 4/ type) and its lattice constant is 10.55 A. Both the fusion surface of the ternary boride and its homogeneity range are sharply expanded. (tr-auth)
