Compensation strategy for an active flicker compensator (original) (raw)

2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551)

Abstract

ABSTRACT The paper is concerned with the development of an active flicker compensator. It is shown that the compensation of the fluctuating component of the instantaneous imaginary power produces a substantial, but not complete, elimination of the voltage fluctuations. A novel compensation strategy is presented, which reduces the voltage fluctuations drastically while keeping unchanged the voltage ripple on the dc bus of the converter. The effectiveness of the compensation strategy is demonstrated by simulation. The laboratory setup designed for experimental purposes is under development and is described in the paper.
