Texture Zeros for Dirac neutrino Mass Matrices (original) (raw)

In this work, we propose new five texture zeros for the mass matrices in the lepton sector in order to predict neutrino masses. In our approach, we extend beyond the Standard Model by assuming Dirac masses for the neutrinos, a feature which allows us to make a theoretical prediction for the lightest neutrino mass in the normal ordering. The textures that were analyzed have enough free parameters to adjust the VtexttinyPMNSV_{\text{\tiny PMNS}}VtexttinyPMNS mixing matrix including the CP-violating phase, the neutrino mass squared differences deltam212,deltam312\delta m_{21}^2, \delta m_{31}^2deltam212,deltam312, and the three charged lepton masses. In order to obtain reliable results, we used two different procedures that are based on the weak basis transformation, a well known technique to analyze textures and their implications for flavor physics. Los neutrinos son particulas fundamentales del modelo estandar, de la familia de los fermiones, pertenecientes al grupo de los leptones. Tienen espin ½, no poseen carga, y su masa es casi cero. Existen 3 tipos distintos (electronico, tau y muonico), asociados respectivamente a cada una de las familias leptonicas. Otra caracteristica de ellos, es que solo interactuan mediante la fuerza debil, lo que los vuelve muy interesantes para la astrofisica, pues esto significa que pueden recorrer enormes distancias a traves del espacio sin interactuar o verse demasiado afectados por la materia, de manera que contienen informacion bastante fidedigna de lo que ocurre en regiones distantes. Ademas, otra de las caracteristicas mas peculiares de estas particulas es que son las unicos fermiones descubiertos que podrian constituir su propia antiparticula.
