Aims and objectives: This study was designed to study the efficacy of ramosetron in prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting in females following laparoscopic cholecystectomy and to compare it with that of granisetron. Methods : 100 female patients of physical status ASA I and II, aged 25-55 years scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy were recruited. Patients with a history of smoking, drug or alcohol abuse, peptic ulcer disease, patients who had received antiemetics within 24 hours before surgery, menstruating, pregnant or lactating women, patients with history of motion sickness or patients in whom laparoscopic cholecystectomy was converted into open surgery were excluded from study. Patients were divided into two equal groups of 50 each.
