One of the mathematical abilities that need to be owned by junior school students is a problem solving ability. By having the ability of problem solving, the students can be a good problem solver in every field that they do later. In fact, there are many junior high school students who have not achieved a good mathematical problem solving, especially in SPLDV topic. This research aims to improve students' problem-solving ability through the application of Pembelajaran Pelangi Matematika model in SPLDV topic. Research on profiles of mathematical problem solving ability in junior high school students on the opportunities material in terms of learning styles aimed to obtain a description of the mathematical problem solving skills based learning styles of students, that learning styles were visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. This type of research was a qualitative descriptive. The subject of research were nine students, each type of learning style consisted of 3 students. The results showed that mathematical problem solving ability of students with the type of visual learning style was superior than the students with the type of auditory and kinesthetic.

Abstrak: Problem posing adalah suatu metode pembelajaran dimana siswa diminta untuk menciptakan masalah-masalah berdasarkan informasi yang diberikan, kemudian siswa diminta menyelesaikan masalah tersebut. Sedangkan dalam metode pembelajaran problem solving, siswa belajar melalui penyelesaian masalah yang telah ditentukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji: (1) perbedaan efektivitas metode pembelajaran problem posing dan problem soving secara individual atau kelompok; (2) Efek interaksi antara metode pembelajaran dan strategi pengelompokan belajar. Dengan meninjau pada variabel terikat, keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan muatan kognitif, kuasi eksperimen dirancang dengan desain post-test-only-non-equivalent control groups. Algebra is an important part of Mathematics that Grade 7 students must learn. Students have difficulty learning algebraic concepts at ABC School in Lampung. The purpose of this study is to identify the difficulties experienced by students in learning algebraic conceptss as well as identify factors that affect students who experience difficulties. This research uses a qualitative case study approach focusing on two students in class VII. Data collection techniques consisted of tests, planned unstructured interviews, and student task documentation. Obstacles in the Learning of Two-variable Functions through Mathematical Thinking Approach

Function of several variables is one of the most important concepts in mathematics and its applications. The lack of its understanding will cause certain obstacles in the learning of next concepts or even subjects. The researchers at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) tend to support students to overcome their deficiencies in the learning of two-variable functions by promoting mathematical thinking. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how this method can help students in the learning of two-variable functions when they encounter non-routine problems in face-to-face Engineering Mathematics (Multivariable Calculus) course through this method. The data collection for this study was collected from a Multivariable Calculus class at UTM during semester II 2009-2010. Data collection for the study was carried out through written assessments and structured questionnaires. The data analysis reveals that students still display difficulties in their learning. Specifically, students' common difficulties are: students' met-before (previous experience), selecting appropriate representation of the three worlds of mathematical thinking, the transition from one world to another world of mathematical thinking, lack of understanding two different embodiments, and lack of understanding two different symbolic for a concept. The findings reveal that the sketching the graph of two-variable functions in 3-dimensions is the greatest difficulty for majority of students in this method. Additionally, the quite entrenching of students in their learning behaviour and styles is the most important reason for the lack of using prompts and questions as guides by students and then no enough effectively of this method.

This research aims to examine the profile of the mathematical proving ability of students in Abstract Algebra courses. The method of this research is included in this type of descriptive research. The subjects of this study were 3 students who studied Abstract Algebra courses from the high, medium and low mathematical proofing ability group. The results showed that students with high ability and are having the ability to read mathematical proofs and perform mathematical proofs. As for the ability to criticize proof by adding, reducing or reconstituted a mathematical proof for each group of students is still not visible.

Pengaruh Metode Pembelajaran Problem Solving terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Matematika

The research is aimed to determine and answer the problems about The impacts of problem solving learning method on mathematics critical thinking ability. The method is used in this research is experiment method with quantitative, and the analysis used t test. The sample is the students grade x about 30 students is taken from each class by proportional random sampling. Based on normality test through liliefors test both of class in normal distribution and homogeneity test used f test and both of class is homogen. The result of hypothesis test show that t test (5.093) ˃ t table (2.002), it means that problem solving method in SMK Islam Wijaya is more influence on mathematics critical thinking ability than problem solving based on learning method. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjawab permasalahan tentang pengaruh metode pembelajaran problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika. Metode yang digunakan peneliti adalah metode penelitian eksperimen dengan kuantitatif, dan analisisnya adalah uji t, sampelnya adalah peserta didik kelas X sebanyak 30 peserta didik dari masingmasing kelas dengan teknik samplingnya adalah Proporsional random sampling. Dari hasil perhitungan uji normalitas dengan menggunakan uji liliefors dimana kedua kelas berdistribusi normal, dan uji homogenitas dengan menggunakan uji F kedua kelas homogennya. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukan bahwa nilai ℎ (5,093) > (2,002) yang berarti penggunaan metode pembelajaran problem solving di SMK Islam Wijaya Kusuma, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta Selatan lebih berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematika dibandingkan dengan penggunaan metode pembelajaran problem based learning.

Development of Learning Tools Based on Realistic Mathematical Approaches to Improve Mathematical Problem Solving Ability of Students in Class V SD Angkasa 2 Lanud Soewondo Medan

This research is motivated by learning tools that do not meet the effectiveness criteria in SD Angkasa 2 Lanud Soewondo Medan. This study aims to describe: 1) the effectiveness of learning tools based on realistic mathematical approaches in improving students' mathematical problem solving abilities; 2) increasing students' mathematical problem solving abilities by using realistic mathematics-based learning tools; 3) the process of student answers in solving problems mathematical problem solving abilities. This study uses a 4-D development model. The subjects in this study were all class V SD Angkasa 2 Lanud Soewondo Medan, with a total of 41 students. The objects in this study are learning tools in the form of lesson plans, textbooks, student activity sheets, and tests of mathematical problem solving abilities.
