The New Education Policy 2020, introduced on July 29, 2020, represents the first major education policy of the 21st century. In a developing country like India, higher education plays a vital role in fostering human development. Since India's independence, its higher education sector has expanded significantly, contributing to the nation's growth by providing specialized knowledge and skills. This study examines the impact of NEP 2020 on the higher education system and highlights the challenges and issues currently faced by this sector in India. Utilizing secondary data from journals, books, reports, websites, and newspapers, the study employs descriptive analysis aligned with its objectives. NEP 2020 aims to modernize the higher education system in India and is expected to bring substantial advancements. With its progressive approach and awareness of the current socioeconomic context, NEP 2020 has the potential to transform India into a global educational hub by 2030, provided it is effectively implemented.

To reach one's full potential, education is necessary. The term "higher education" is post-secondary education in India. Students invest a lot of time, energy, and money. To make it feasible for the next generation to finish their higher education, families forgo present spending opportunities, delay saving for the future, and incur debt. The ability to provide them with opportunities for high-quality education will determine our country's destiny. In this article, we will look at the NEP2020 requirements for higher education framework and results. In addition to the plans for NEP2020 related to higher education, we will also look at the current flaws in the higher education system. We will compare the two systematically. The investigation gets over with valuable suggestions based on the findings.

National educational policy (NEP) 2020 had been considered as a major advancement in the higher education sector in India. The present government approved the New Education Policy for bringing comprehensive changes in education sector for providing quality education. Multidisciplinary and holistic education needs to flourish in a well-integrated manner for improving all the capacities that is social, mental and emotional. We must remember that the Indians way of learning, acquiring knowledge has always been liberal and multidisciplinary. This paper initially depicts the recapitulation on NEP 2020, Implementation of NEP 2020's vision for a transformed Educational Landscape in India and role of NEP in transforming higher education into multidisciplinary education. With the objective of providing value based, knowledge based, and skill based higher education for everyone in the country, the new education policy has make intrinsic propositions to improve the quality of school and higher education. Quality higher education also makes everyone to contribute to the progress of society. Finally some strategies are mentioned which help faculty in motivating and energizing for Multidisciplinary Education.

Prioritizing Foundational Literacy and Numeracy for all kids by Grade 3 is essential. Flexibility enables students to pick their educational paths and programs based on their talents and interests. Every curriculum, pedagogy, and policy should respect diversity and the local context. Equity and inclusion must serve as the cornerstone of all educational decisions. Extensive use of technology in educational planning and administration. A flexible but strict regulatory framework that promotes creativity and unconventional thinking. Since education is a public good, every child should have access to a high standard of instruction. NEP-2020 aims at establishment of multidisciplinary colleges, universities and clusters of higher education institutions. All the way, the policy also focuses for National Research Foundation (NRF) to fund outstanding researches. Admissions for all the universities and undergraduate HEIs will be through National Testing Agency (NTA). The government has made significant strides in the area of education to improve excellence, equity, access, and quality in a way that is inclusive. Additionally, it has made the nation's key social programs for social change and economic growth comparable to the rate of development at the global level. This article largely focuses on the analytical and theoretical fundamentals of the Higher Educational Institutions under National Education Policy, 2020. In this background, the study article's theme is obvious just by reading the title, hence it is deemed important. Regarding social, political, and economic aspects, the problem is very significant, urgent, and pertinent.

Indian Higher Education System for Sustainable Development: An Exploratory Study in the Light of NEP 2020

The National Education Policy 2020 recognises the significance of sustainable development in higher education. The focus of higher education is to achieve excellence in learning, skills and competencies. On the other hand, sustainable development involves generation and mobilisation of resources to provide quality of life to the people and resolve complex social issues. COVID-19 pandemic has not only affected the world economy but rather everyone's life, all over the world. Though every Higher Education system (HE system) strives for quality in teaching and research, differences can be noticed between endeavours for social outcome and social development. This research work aims to review the framework of HE system through systematic literature review and identify the priorities pursued by the HE system so far. It will also collect insights from senior faculty members and senior academic administrators of the HE system in Delhi through semi-structured interviews for possible change in their strategic direction. Information collected will be analysed through qualitative techniques and recommendations will be made for Indian HE system to steer their path towards sustainable development. The findings of the study will also be relevant and insightful for the regulatory authorities and higher education institutions to revisit their existing policy framework in the light of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). The study also draws its relevance from the fact that Indian education system including the higher education is undergoing radical changes in the wake of NEP 2020 that focusses on multidisciplinary education and societal values.
