This study has been undertaken to determine perceptions on self-efficacy of high school students in relation to internet usage. In this quantitative study, the sample consisted of 880 high school students studying in 30 high schools located within the borders of TRNC. General Survey method as a type of descriptive research method is used for this research. In accordance with the sample of this research, participants' self-efficacy perceptions on safe internet usage were examined in 4 dimensions. The first dimension of the research participants' self-efficacy on "Social Network (social media) Safety" is examined. According to statements and responses to the questionnaires, it has been determined that they are fully sufficient in "Social Network (social media) Safety"; whereas in the second and third dimensions of the research which are "Malicious Software" and "Web Safety and Social Engineering" the participants' sufficiency is found to be at a moderate level. In the last dimension of the research covering "Computer Safety" students found to have sufficient levels. As a result, students are found to have adequate security in the Social Networks they regularly use, whereas they are moderately competent in Web Security and Social Engineering. Main reason of this outcome is the fact that the students do not use the internet in full consciousness and correctly, thus the students should receive training on these matters.
Scale for efficacy in the safe use of the internet for students
College understudies are overwhelming clients of the Internet contrasted with the overall public, and they assume a pivotal part in securing the Internet, and assurance of PCs is left to the activity of the clients.The main aim of the study is to investigate self-efficacy in the safe use of the internet for students. The volunteer participants used in this study consisted of a total of 99. The questionnaire is made up of 4 dimensions SNS, MS, WSS and CS which had 35 items altogether in total.The participants answered to items on 5 Likert Scale. The questionnaire reliability was calculated as 0.72. A questionnaire was used to collect data and was analysed and interpreted using SPSS. Frequency and percentage, Independent sample t-test, ANOVA, methods were used during the analysis process. According to the results of the study, students have good awareness of computer security on a general note, but specifically in terms of social networking sites, web security and malicious software, the majority of the students have little awareness of them. As a result, the study could help universities, government and even parents of students, in Cyprus and in other countries, to be able to access the Internet safely.

The best way to solve such an issue would be to make people aware of this situation. Based on this idea, teachers should firstly be trained to use the Internet in a safe and conscious manner so to be able to aid their students and the student's parents in the correct and safe usage of the Internet. The aim of this study is to determine teachers' self-efficacy and perceptions in safer use of the Internet so to be able to identify and develop a multidimensional tool, which is both valid and reliable, and can be therefore used in other scientific studies as well. Through a confirmatory factor analysis, the "Scale for the Self-Efficacy and Perceptions in the Safe Use of the Internet for Teachers" was validated in four dimensions: "Security in Social Networking Sites," "Malicious Software," "Web Security & Social Engineering" and "Computer Security," The scale developed has the characteristics of being the first of its kind in a developing country such as Cyprus. According to the results of the study, the scale in terms of validity and reliability was found to be appropriate in all aspects of the necessary criteria. As a result, the developed scale could help or be used by teachers, in Cyprus and in other countries, to be able to access the Internet safely and aid them in other scientific areas of study in determining teachers' self-efficacy.

Secondary School Students’ Self-Efficacy Beliefs in Educational Internet Use
The Internet is becoming increasingly influential in our daily lives and it is the most important way of getting informed in our society. Recently, Internet usage has increased substantially in schools. Especially, students use the Internet intensively to get more information from the educational resources. Internet is used in education as well as in other areas of our daily life so analyzing self-efficacy beliefs about its use has become very important. In this study, secondary school students’ self-efficacy beliefs in educational Internet use are evaluated. A Likert type scale developed by Şahin (2009) is used to measure students’ self-efficacy beliefs in educational Internet use. In addition, items regarding student demographics are added to this questionnaire. The study is conducted online and data are collected from the secondary schools students (6-7-8th grade) of five different provinces in Turkey. Findings related to the student self-efficacy beliefs are reported based on student demographics and suggestions are provided.
There is a growing emphasis on the use of technology in education. For students to effectively participate in technology assisted learning, they need to be computer literate. Internet self-efficacy is a potential indicator of computer literacy. This research study discusses the factors affecting secondary school students' Internet selfefficacy, made up of general self-efficacy and communicative self-efficacy. The data used in this study is a part of a larger data set of a research project funded between 2008 and 2010. A total of 609 secondary school students from ten different schools participated in the study. A MANCOVA was run to investigate students' Internet selfefficacy scores based on several student-related factors. The results revealed that students were highly confident in their Internet self-efficacy. Daily computer use and weekly email use, in addition to having Internet connection at home, were found to be significantly predicting students' Internet self-efficacy scores. The independent variables varied in terms of which dependent variables they affect. Student grade level and gender interestingly did not have any impact on the results. As the technology integrations are becoming more apparent in Turkish public schools thorough large-scale projects like FATİH, the findings of this study will be of the essence to understand the average student profiles in terms of the confidence with the technology.
Examining High School Students' Safe Computer and Internet Usage Awareness

The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is rapidly spreading among high school students. These technologies provide the students to gain learning experiences and also involve many dangers such as addiction, loneliness and stress. The aim of this study is to examine awareness levels of different types of high school students towards Safe Computer and Internet Usage Awareness (SCIUA). The data were collected from 715 students studying in the high school students in Turkey by using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed based on the pre-determined themes and the students’ information security and computer usage awareness profiles were revealed. Making the Internet a safer place: students' perceptions about Internet security threats
Today's generations of students are among most frequent users of the Internet. During use of the Internet, students' computers are exposed to different types of security threats. To find out more about students' perceptions of this topic, a research at the FHSS in Zagreb was carried out. Results of the research show that respondents successfully recognized most common security threats, however they do not employ all the necessary basic protective measures available to them. They also feel that they are not fully capable of protecting their computers on the Internet, so they need more education in this area.

Due to the regularly expanding utilization of the web, information security has turn into a typical issue in the society. Is particularly a case for the youthful adults having various types of attitudes towards the practices of information security? In this research paper, it analyse some factors that motivate the information security behaviours of college students. In view of the idea of dread excitement within the presence of a threatened situation, a "Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) which is a well-established theory is taken in research model. Habit factors and social norms are added to the model for assessing the information security behaviours of students. Results depicted that students are extremely motivated for practicing the information security if it see elevated levels of self-efficacy, severity, response costs and response efficacy. This study addresses university students' information search and commitment strategies on web environment and internet usage self-efficacy beliefs in terms of such variables as gender, department, grade level and frequency of internet use; and whether there is a significant relation between these beliefs. Descriptive method was used in the study. Study group is composed of students attending the first and fourth degrees in several departments at Kocaeli University. Data collected regarding university students' information search and commitment strategies on web environment and internet usage self-efficacy beliefs were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t test and pearson correlation coefficient. The research results indicate that students' scores on "elaboration" strategy in the Web environment and scores of self-efficacy regarding Internet use were at the intermediate level. Students' educational Internet use self-efficacy beliefs are moderate according to the highest and lowest points of the survey. The analyses found that there was a relation between Internet use self-efficacy beliefs and information search and commitments strategies within the Web environment. A positive, although low-level, relationship was found between the "elaboration" factor, which is one of the one sub-factors of search and commitment among the information strategies in a Web environment, and self-efficacy with respect to Internet use.
