TOURISM BUSINESS IN DEVELOPMENT OF EUROPEAN RURAL AREAS
Rural tourism, including agritourism, fulfils an important role in the activation of rural areas, especially regions of high unemployment and particular natural and cultural qualities. Proper development of such areas should be multidirectional. Apart from the economical aspect, also the social and ecological aspect is of great importance. The increasing interest in the countryside and in relaxing far from great urban complexes creates a possibility of improving the living conditions in the country – not only for individuals concerned with organizing and selling tourist services, but for the whole community of villages, or even the region. The aim of this work is to present the current state of rural tourism in the regions of exceptional environmental and cultural values, as well as to present its role in the development of rural areas of choosed countries-Finland, Italy and Poland.
Approach to the Concept of Rural Tourism
This work on the concept of rural tourism approaches resulted chronological various definitions of rural tourism over the past 25 years in the literature. Although it seems simple to define rural tourism as tourism that takes place in rural areas of the country, this definition does not include the complexity of the forms developed different meanings in different countries so far. Therefore, rural tourism includes tourism activity itself (accommodation, guesthouse, tourist movement, running programs, provision of basic services and supplementary)-economic activities (mainly agriculture, but also the practice of traditional occupations) and how to party leisure segment, for those who require this type of tourism. Rural tourism develops in close connection with the local economy, which leads to interdependence between tourism activities and local economy.
IMPORTANCE OF RURAL TOURISM AND INVESTIGATION OF ABROAD EXAMPLES
Urbanization, one of the biggest problems in 21st century, causes many environment problems such as structure areas and population increase. The decline of urban green spaces and environmental problems in cities have made rural life and rural values again important in recent years. In this context, the concept of rural tourism, which emerges as a kind of alternative tourism in line with the changing income levels, needs and wants of the people covering the whole of the tourism activities in the rural areas, is getting more and more important day by day. Rural tourism, which enables rural areas to develop socio-culturally and economically, also offers tourists the chance to get in touch with natural beauties and meet local cultural characteristics. Turkey has a high potential for rural tourism, which plays an important role in preserving natural and cultural heritage as well as providing local sustainable development. In order for this potential to have a significant share in the development of Turkey, the right perception and development of the concept of rural tourism must be planned correctly. With this study, the importance of rural tourism will be emphasized and suggestions will be developed for our country by giving examples of rural tourism from Australia, South Africa and Turkey. General Considerations on Rural Tourism

The authors like to stress some elements related to the concept of rural tourism which has nowadays become very important around the world. The rural tourism can revitalise the conventional concepts and views on tourism, and bring in a new dimension to the sustainable development of tourism. It has been realised that tourism can play a major role in many countries economies, especially in developing ones, where it can substantially contribute to the increase of the national income. In this respect, mention should be made that Romania has a lot of resources to develop this tourism branch: villages with well conserved traditions, folklore, wildlife, natural heritage. All these natural elements put in value together with investments in infrastructure have determined an increasing demand for the Romanian rural destinations.
An overview of the new trends in rural tourism
The main purpose of this paper is to examine the concepts of creativity and authenticity and their connection to rural tourism. A review of the types of rural tourism has been made, highlighting the authentic character of each one: in agritourism, authenticity is experienced by the tourists performing chores in a rural setting; the authentic feature of ethnic tourism is represented by living the life of local minorities; authenticity in ecotourism is perceived due to the ecological aspect; the authenticity in creative tourism is derived from the creative activities performed together with the locals; the authentic feature of culinary tourism is given by the fact that the tourists can experience local cuisine and beverages. This paper draws on the literature which explores the new trends, namely creativity and authenticity in rural tourism.
Forward: New Directions in Rural Tourism
Rural tourism seems to be an appropriate tool to revitalize the reclining rural areas and to ensure their sustainable future by job retention or even job creation, farm support, broadened cultural provision, landscape and nature conservation or the maintenance of rural arts and crafts as attractions for tourists. Rural tourism often provides an incentive for infrastructural development, which then contributes to the growth of other economic activities in the rural areas. It is Important to note that, the growing number of tourists involved in rural tourism and related activities helped the development of many rural settlements, without being limited to areas with high tourism potential and an exceptional attractiveness. The way in which rural tourism is organized and the forms it takes vary from country to country. In some countries, the government or cooperative movement is the main source of investment, while in others it is a private enterprise.

The main purpose of this paper is to promote the work of a great team and to offer to the academic society and not only, the results of this achievement. All the theoretical and practical views focus on making a rigorous inventory of all that means rural tourism, a field that grows each second and expands. Another main objective is to analyze the main characteristics of this field of interest (theoretical concepts, forms and activities, social and economical meanings, implementation and development), characteristics that are seen through two both a general view and a view that focuses on the relation between rural tourism and the Romanian village. On the other hand, this research reveals more particular aspects applied on the example of Romania. Along with the issue of sustainable development, the results of this research tend to be useful for all projects and management strategies. They also target the entrepreneurs by integrating all rural activities in a complex vision that sustains development and preserving the rural society.

The paper addresses the main aspects and tendencies of the tourism in the context of sustainable development, of the place and importance of rural tourism, the usefulness of using an index system in touristy and rural tourism activity, of measuring the rural tourism activity on a country level and the need to develop it, considering its possible integration into the European touristic market. Furthermore, a new index system, to be applied in the rural tourism is set up, as well as an original structure concerning data processing and analyzing for the data acquired by sampling. These elements are only useful if applied by I.C.T (Touristy Research Institute), by other government-and non-government institutions, or even by companies interested in developing business in rural tourism, or make research work on certain aspects of the rural tourism activity, on the tourists' behaviour in the context of this type of tourism.

The popularity of the forms of rural tourism has grown in recent years. From the individual initiatives it become a real alternative for leisure. In the majority of rural settlements, defining emblematic is multiple: landscape quality and warmth of the people, works of art and folk technique, traditional occupations, costumes, customs, traditions, cuisine, local resources, etc. To these are added awareness, by farmers, of the need to diversify the activities by engaging in forestry, tourism or calling certain activities on specific period, within the local economy.
Rural tourism associated with agriculture as an economic alternative for the farmers

This paper aims at presenting a possible approach to identify the best sites for rural tourism and also to analyze the synergies between agriculture and cultural heritage in Azores, in order to be incorporated in the full range of management concerns into private and public decision -making. The following territorial aptitudes for alternative were used to simulate this exercise: urban, touristic, horticulture, agricultural, cattle and forestry. Soil potential was defined in a number of classes from I to VII. The best hypothetical sites for rural tourism were defined using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
