This study investigates the incidence and predictors of acute kidney injury (AKI) among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. The retrospective follow-up study involved 538 patients and found an AKI incidence rate of 38 per 10,000 person-months. Significant predictors of AKI included poor glycemic control and the presence of comorbidities. The findings suggest a high incidence of AKI in this population compared to previous studies, underscoring the importance of effective glycemic management and monitoring to mitigate AKI risk among diabetic patients.
