Preface xiY , courses. Because the qualitative treatment of selected topics is at a relatively advanced level, the book is appropriate for chemical-engineering graduates, undergraduates and industrial practitioners.

20.109 Laboratory Fundamentals in Biological Engineering, Spring 2006

2006

This course introduces experimental biochemical and molecular techniques from a quantitative engineering perspective. Rigorous quantitative data collection, statistical analysis, and conceptual understanding of instrumentation design and application form the underpinnings of this course. The four discovery based modules include DNA Engineering, Protein Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Biomaterials Engineering.

Biochemical Engineering VIII: Debate Session

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2006

A unique feature of the Princeton meeting was the concept of a debate session. The session's goals were to provide an informal yet serious forum for discussion of some important nontechnical issues in the field of biochemical engineering. These issues should be challenging and thought-provoking for the audience and provide a basis for continued discussion. This article briefly describes the topics chosen and summarizes the main points made by each speaker.
