The Impact of Remote Working During the COVID-19 Epidemic on Employee Well-being

The aim of the research was to answer the question whether the remote work imposed on workers during the COVID-19 epidemic has an impact on their well-being, and if so, how. The research material consisted of the results of a survey conducted among the employees referred to remote work in connection with the announced state of the epidemic in Poland. The research was conducted in the period from July 31 to August 19, 2020. The research was conducted using a questionnaire method, the study was attended by 199 respondents. A survey questionnaire was used in the study and the results obtained were statistically processed. The research carried out allowed us to obtain the results of the self-assessment of employees referred to work in the homme-office in terms of their mental well-being and physical well-being.
The study aims to enrich employers' understanding of how employees perceive remote working Post COVID-19's quarantine period and its effect on employees' psychological wellbeing and work-life integration in Egypt. A structured questionnaire was distributed post-COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period on a sample of 318 employees who are supposed to be working remotely in different sectors from home. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to test the research hypotheses. The results suggest a significant positive effect of employees' perception of remote working on psychological wellbeing and work-life integration. Simultaneously, there is a significant negative effect of employees' perception of remote working and emotional exhaustion. This study should help employers design the appropriate intervention plan to sustain operations and maintain effective communication with remote workers. It contributes to the literature by considering it as one of the growing empirical studies that will tackle remote working in relation to employee psychological wellbeing and work-life integration Post-COVID-19 quarantine period in Egypt. The majority of research nowadays tackling COVID-19 is from a biomedical perspective, focusing on physical and mental health, but this research will tackle COVID-19 from a psychological and managerial standpoint. The research results will assist researchers and practitioners in gaining insights into the future role of remote working.

The research paper title work from home: A study on wellbeing of employees during work from home during coronavirus pandemic. The main objective of the study is to know how the employee wellbeing is affected due to work from home. Especially in the IT industry the work life balance of the employees is affected badly. The descriptive research is used in this study as the research design and the sampling method is used as the convenience sampling. The size of the sample collected in this study is sixty (60) also the primary data is used. The statistical tools used in this study are frequency analysis, mean analysis and regression. Regression analysis is used to measure the wellbeing of the employees during COVID-19 pandemic. The components used to measure the impacts of work from home on employee wellbeing are work demands, home demands, work interfering with family, family interfering work and employee wellbeing. This analysis will be useful for the human resource managers to know the wellbeing of the employees during work from home.

As a result of the rapid and unplanned adoption of telework by European companies during the pandemic, specific telework characteristics have arisen. Thus, employees’ experience of telework requires further analysis. Based on the “Living, Working, and COVID-19” results for Baltic countries, this paper studies the effect of telework experience on wellbeing, both directly and mediated by Work-Life balance and job satisfaction, through structural equation modelling. After verifying the significant differences in telework preferences, the model is also tested in high versus low telework preference groups. The main findings corroborate the effect of a positive telework experience on perceived wellbeing, but only indirectly via Work-Life balance. Additionally, data from the group with a high telework preference best fits the proposed model, revealing not only the mentioned indirect effect, but also the direct positive effect of telework experience on wellbeing. Employee emotions have a direct relationship in achieving objectives of the organization and have an important role in the overall growth and sustainability of both employees and the organizations. Covid-19 was declared as pandemic on March 11, 2020 by the World Health Organisation, and most companies have adapted work from home on very a short notice. This paper studies the emotional wellbeing of private sector employees working from home during Covid-19. A detailed review of the literature was undertaken, and the PERMA framework was used for measuring the emotional wellbeing of employees. The study shows that employees' emotions were mildly positive along with mixed sentiments of anger, sadness, and loneliness. There are recommendations for employers to have a process and governance framework in place for work from home, be prepared for such uncertainties in future, followed with recommendations for employees. The study additionally shows that there were some positive outcomes of working from home, such as a cleaner environment and a better work-life balance.

Challenges when many people moved their jobs from the office to home because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have put stress on employees’ daily routine and professional lives. This article investigated the experience of individuals working not at the office and disclosed consequences of occupational stress such as mental and physical exhaustion, social deprivation, decreased work commitment, professional cynicism, and professional burnout. The preliminary study was based on a survey of 202 employees in Lithuania who were teleworking from home throughout the pandemic. According to the results, it can be assumed that teleworking had rather negative effects on employee wellbeing, as many teleworkers tended to suffer mental and physical exhaustion and social deprivation when working from home within pandemic. The psycho-emotional state of employees seems to be a key factor influencing the intellectual resources of an organization in a period of uncertainty.

The inclusion of the issue of well-being in the social space, by contextualizing the process in functions of reconfiguring working conditions is of significant interest for both employees and employers in win-win approach. The dynamical systems produce chaotic behavior amplified by specific nonlinear feedback mechanisms and irreversible irregularities. The pandemic generated by SARS-CoV-2 virus has determined the extension of the use of telework and the issue of the dichotomy related potential benefits/ disadvantages associated with it. The anomie of the society with multiple dysfunctions is potentiated by the individual anomie induced by anti-pandemic measures. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of telework on employee well-being, from the perspective of the theory of social production function, considering seven areas of evaluation, assessed on the basis of specific items. In order to collect the subjectively perceived information, we developed an opinion questionnaire. The information was processed using correlation analysis and regression analysis. We noticed there are some differences in the perception of well-being depending on the workplace and gender. There is a positive relationship between professional development and competences, job satisfaction, work-life balance, organizational climate and well-being, and a negative relationship between the emotional dimension, commitment, autonomy and well-being in the case of the telework.
