Supplier Performance Evaluation Based On Fuzzy Logic
Purpose -This paper describe the development of the fuzzy logic model approach to supply chain and its value for managers by illustrating its application to supplier performance appraisals. Design/methodology/approach -Measuring supplier performance possesses the properties of multi-dimension and multi-scale, it increases the complexity of the aggregation and assessment process. A focal company must develop an effective procedure for overcoming the complexity of performance measurement. Performance evaluations of supplier are not easy; many criteria and standards that are involved should be considered. In reality, supplier selection is the essence of supply chain management; mean while, assessment of supply performance becomes the main activity of supplier selection. An extensive literature review provided the framework for the model development in this research. Supplier performance evaluations represent a critically important decision that often involves subjective information. Models and heuristic techniques that focus on the use of different types of information are available; however, with few exceptions, the models are not robust enough to be applied in a practical, managerially useful manner. Fuzzy logic models provide a reasonable solution to these common decision situations.

Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, 2006
This article suggests a new method that transfers the house of quality (HOQ) approach typical of quality function deployment (QFD) problems to the supplier selection process. To test its efficacy, the method is applied to a supplier selection process for a medium-to-large industry that manufactures complete clutch couplings.
Supplier Selection and Evaluation by Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methodology
International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research, 2011
In this study, an outsourcer evaluation and management system is developed for a manufacturing company by use of Fuzzy goal programming (FGP). A first phase of the methodology evaluation criteria for outsources and the objectives of the company are determined. Considering the fuzziness in the decision data, linguistic variables that can be expressed in generalized fuzzy number are used. The propose approach is utilized from fuzzy sets, Analytic Network Process (ANP), fuzzy TOPSIS and Preference Ranking Organization method for enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE) approaches. Evaluation criteria for this problem are weighted by Fuzzy ANP approach then in the Fuzzy TOPSIS and Fuzzy PROMETHEE approaches. At the second phase the FGP model developed selects the most appropriate outsourcers suitable to be strategic partners with the company and simultaneously allocates the quantities to be ordered to them. At the end, gives the computational results .

The success of an industry depends on optimization of product cost and for achieving above goal supplier selection should be error free and efficient. The supplier selection Problem is a multi objective problem involving both qualitative and quantitative factors. These factors and their interdependencies make the problem highly complex one. The supplier selection issue has been founded out as one of the fundamental operation in the supply chain. In this study, a fuzzy expert decision support system has been developed for solving the suppler selection problem with multiple objectives. Basic important factors considered for supplier selection are price, quality and service. The fuzzy based model is necessary to ensure the suitability by considering important factors and simulate the factors with data given by the experts in those fields.
Decision Support Model for Supplier Selection Using Fuzzy Logic Concept
2018 International Conference on Information Management and Technology (ICIMTech), 2018
The healthcare industry today has grown rapidly and emphasizing the efficiency and effectiveness within the healthcare delivery systems has become a major priority in the field. In order to increase the satisfaction and safety of patient, hospitals must improve their overall performance. We established from our review that a number of models have been developed for supplier selection using diverse methods. Most of the models were used to evaluate the performance of healthcare service sector but there is little emphasis on suppliers of health service facilities. And also to the best of our search, we could not find research works on models for evaluating and selecting suppliers in the healthcare unit of tertiary institution. Hence our focus in this study is to develop a decision support model for evaluating and selecting suppliers in the healthcare service of universities. The use of manual techniques for supplier selection in healthcare unit of universities in developing countries is quite tedious and inefficient particularly when several criteria are taken into consideration. These make decision making difficult and also cause the health centre to frequently stock out. Moreover deciding when to order and how much to order is not very easy and hence not meeting patients' demands adequately. This study focuses on investigating and developing a decision support model for evaluating and selecting suppliers in the healthcare service of tertiary institutions using analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and artificial neural network (ANN). Our case study is the health center of Redeemers University, Nigeria. According to the Overall Priority Vector, the priority values for the respective criteria are: Quality = 0.2192, Service = 0.2160, Delivery = 0.2102, Cost = 0.1968 and Risk = 0.1860. Our results revealed that the quality of product supply by the supplier is the most important criterion, while the risk on the supplies is the least important. To improve on the accuracy of these results, the AHP model was supplemented by a 3-layer artificial neural network, adding a learning component to the model. The result also shows that quality is the most important criterion, but with a high index of 0.6845 as opposed to 0.2192 for the AHP alone. This shows that the hybrid model is much better than the AHP alone.
Supplier Selection and Performance Evaluation of Telecommunication Company
American Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Rapid advances in technology have shortened the upgrade and replacement cycles in industries such as electronics, household appliances, and communication technologies. Within these industries, high-voltage power film capacitors have become indispensable electrical components due to their good electrical performance and high reliability. The selection and evaluation of suppliers of these capacitors is therefore increasingly important. Suppliers play a crucial role in the electronics industry; the quality of their products determines the degree to which the quality of the final product can be guaranteed. Supplier quality also affects the ability of all the members in a supply chain to control costs. Evaluation by decision-makers is highly significant in the supplier selection process. However, when the opinions of multiple decision-makers are combined, issues such as cognitive differences, fuzzy linguistics, and uncertainty are common. This study presents a supplier performance index S PL and derives the estimates of the index S PL and its statistical properties. The proposed index is not only helpful for the accurate measurement of supplier performance; it can also reduce cognitive differences among evaluators in the decision-making process (that is, the sample variability associated with the Likert scale). Evaluation scores for each criterion for the linguistic labels are converted to triangular fuzzy numbers in order to reduce ambiguity. Subsequently, integrated crisp values are obtained by defuzzification in a fuzzy inference system. A real-world case study of the supplier selection of high-voltage power film capacitors is provided to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed method.
Supplier Selection Under Fuzzy Environment
2019
To select the right supplier in supply chain is of great importance in terms of firms. Because, when the supplier is a piece of a well-organized supply chain, this relationship may affect the competition power across the entire supply chain. Supplier selection is so difficult and critical process that it requires to evaluate many factors such as quality, delivery time, cost, technology, payment due, flexibility and corporate reputation. Decision makers must consider these factors to select ideal suppliers. At this point, multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods help decision makers to solve supplier selection problems. In this paper, considering the fuzziness in group decision making process, fuzzy set theory is used to deal with supplier selection problem of a textile manufacturing firm in Denizli. The ratings and weights of the criteria are expressed by linguistic variables. According to the proposed method fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution ...

Vendor Selection Problem (VSP) has been considered in this paper as an integrated method of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in the hygienic company. In QFD method, determining the importance of the "weights" for the customer requirements is an essential and crucial issue. FAHP has been used to determine the importance of the "weights" for Product Designing which incorporates 5 important criteria in a hygienic company namely Cost, Sustainability, Delivery Time, Creativity and Quality in 4 categories such as Commercial, Technical, Strategic, Green needs with 12 sub-attributes. The new approach can improve the imprecise ranking of customer requirements and provides a decision tool that facilitates the vendor assessment and selection. The most significant advantage of this integrated method is using of it as a self-evaluation tool in the organization to determine weaknesses and strengths, so it can help researchers to solve this specific subject for supplier's selection.
Supplier Selection Based on Two-Phased Fuzzy Decision Making
2017
Supplier selection depends on human evaluation which is subjective and vague in nature. Fuzzy approach is deemed appropriate to measure these uncertainties in the decision making process, rather than using real or crisp values. Predominant in many studies on fuzzy decision making, fixed triangular or trapezoidal fuzzy numbers with symmetric spread from the literature were incorporated. However, these fuzzy numbers do not explain the actual respondents’ opinions which will affect the overall decision making process. Therefore, fuzzy numbers based on respondents should be developed beforehand to be integrated into the existing fuzzy decision making tool. This paper aims to develop triangular fuzzy numbers based on respondents’ opinions. These fuzzy numbers were adopted into a fuzzy evaluation method used in a supplier selection problem. The ranking results were analyzed using three different groups of fuzzy numbers. It was found that the linguistic terms for all three groups are not s...
