Abstract
A great amount of teachers and professors are involved every day in research processes in the field of education, especially through research projects, Master and Doctoral thesis, where insufficiencies are found in the knowledge about the possible ways of using the statistical techniques and methods in these processes. In this article the potentialities of statistics are analyzed in different moments of the investigative process, as well as the techniques and methods at the reach of the investigators. An analysis is made also of the main inadequacies that are presented when using statistics as an investigation tool.
