Book Review: Maintaining Change (Client Manual and Therapist Guide) (original) (raw)

Abstract
Occasionally I receive a book (in this case, a set of two books) that I wonder how I ever practiced without. Anyone who works with sex offenders knows the difficulty in helping an offender develop the relapse-prevention skills and insight needed to prevent offense recurrences. Sex offenders come to our offices with the best of intentions, having sworn off sexually abusive behavior; yet some-and it is difficult to predict who-will relapse. Mark Twain is reported to have said regarding smoking that it is easy to stop; he had done it many times. The trick with sex offenders is to help them stay stopped.
