A Study on Students’ Difficulties In Vocabulary Mastery at First Grade Students of SMPN 1 Baula

The Objective of the research were to know difficulties of the students in vocabulary mastery and to find out factors cause students difficulties in vocabulary mastery. This Research employed a qualitative research design, For gaining the data, the researcher used questionnaire and interview. This research was conducted by interviewed 3 students appointed by the teacher. This means students have the same opportunity to be chosen as a person participants. In this research, researchers had 20 participants. The researcher gave a questionnaire for participants. Because this research has a purpose to find out the difficulties of students in vocabulary mastery. Second grade students at SMPN 1 Baula still have a lot of difficulties in vocabulary mastery. The mastery of English vocabulary is used to support the ability to communicate either in spoken or oral. In practicing the language, vocabulary has an important role. Vocabulary is a crucial aspect to develop the learning of language. If the students have enough English vocabualary , they can express their idea easily. This study tries to describe the students' English vocabulary mastery. In this research, the writer carried out the research to the seventh year students of SMP Negeri 2 Susukan, Banjarnegara. She randomly takes 28 students from 218 students as the sample, while the method which is used is descriptive quantitative. To get data, the writer gives a test to the students. The steps taken by the writer are scoring and making percentage of student's ability. After analyzing the data by using percentage score of classical ability, the writer get the result of the percentage student's ability that is 78,57 % . The score of students can be explained as follows: 7 students get excellent score, 15 students get good score, 4 students get fair score and 2 students get poor score. Based on the student's score, the students who get good score have the most number, followed by excellent, fair and poor. It means that the students's vocabulary mastery is good.

EXPLORING TEACHER’S STRATEGIES IN TEACHING VOCABULARY at GRADE TENTH of SMK SULTAN AGUNG SUMBER

Vocabulary is an essential part in learning language. The teacher of SMK Sultan Agung Sumber applied the vocabulary strategy in teaching English to make students learn effectively. This study is intended to explore the types, the strengths, and the weaknesses of strategy applied by the teacher in teaching vocabulary at grade tenth of SMK Sultan Agung Sumber. The research method adopted by the researchers is descriptive qualitative. The data are taken from observation and interview with the teacher and 5 students as respondents. Both observation and interview are to explore how the teacher applies strategies in teaching vocabulary during the learning process. The result of the study revealed some strategies applied by the teacher to teach vocabulary includes: 1) comprehending vocabulary in details; 2) memorizing vocabulary in every meeting; 3) dictionary use; and 4) teaching vocabulary by using games. Meanwhile, for the strengths and weaknesses of each strategy, the researcher found that the most effective strategy in teaching vocabulary applied by the teacher is teaching vocabulary by using games. On the other hand, the most weaknesses vocabulary teaching strategy is memorizing vocabulary in every meeting due to the fact that memorizing vocabulary around 15-20 words each meeting made them easy to forget the vocabularies that they have memorized.

One of the purpose of teaching speaking is the students are able to use English as a means of communication based on the context and situation related to their level of vocabulary mastery. So before we are able to communicate well, we should have a large number of words.The objective of this research is to find out whether vocabulary is influential toward English speaking ability. The populations of this research are 190 students of all the fourth semester in the academic year of 2009-2010. Based on the table of Krecjie, a number of samples are 127 students. The aim of this research was to find the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading ability at the tenth grade of SMA Islam Al-Hasyimiyyah Kota Tangerang in academic year 2018/2019. This research used quantitative method, all of the population that was 67 students chose by the writer as the sample by using saturated sampling. In collecting the data, the writer made an instrument of vocabulary mastery and reading ability which approximate 40 multiple choices. Because the variable x (vocabulary mastery) was not normally distributed, testing of hypothesis was done by using Kendall’s Tau-B test. This research is aimed to find out the correlation between English vocabulary mastery and their writing ability in descriptive text. The number of population is 26 students of seventh grade students of SMP Islam Sudirman 1 Bancak, Semarang District. The instruments of the collecting the data uses test and documentation. The correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery at the grade VIII Students of MTs Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan in academic years 2019/2020

This research focused about the correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery at the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan. some of the students get difficulties in expressing their ideas, they don"t know the structure in sentences, they still have poor vocabularies and grammar, and most of the students did not like English lesson because its difficult for them. This research has three formulation of the problem, they are: 1) how is the students, vocabulary of the VIII grade students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?. 2) how is the students, writing descriptive text of the VIII grade students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?. 3) is there a significant correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan?, the purposes of this research are to know the students" vocabulary of the eight grade students of MTs Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan, to know the students" writing descriptive text mastery of the eight grade students of Mts Al-Ansor Padangsidmpuan, to find out if there is a significant correlation between students" vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the eight grade students of MTs Al-Ansor Padangsidimpuan. The type of research in this study is study quantitative. The population of this research was the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan in academic years 2019/2020. Further, the sample of the research included 24 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used two tests they are vocabulary test with the form multiple choice and test of writing descriptive text with the form essay test. To know the correlation both of them used product moment correlation After analyzing the data, the researcher found that mean score of vocabulary was 73.12 and mean score of writing descriptive text 71.41. The value of r xy = 0.898 and r table = 0.423 with the significat value 5%. The t count was 10.27 with t table = 2.074 or t count > t table. It meant there is a significant correlation between vocabulary and writing descriptive text mastery of the grade VIII students of MTs Al-ansor Padangsidimpuan.

The Use of Drills and Picture To Vocabulary Mastery of the Sixth Year Students of SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari, Anak Ratu Aji, Lampung Tengah in the Academic Year of 2011/2012

Teaching vocabulary successfully needs a good method. The method of teaching vocabulary is always changeable. It is due to teaching itself is a complicated process that never possible gives absolute rule, which will ensure success. At this point, teacher is necessary to use best guide. The drill and picture method represent a multisensory multifaceted approach suitably needed by different students. The benefits from this research are: (1). to know the scaffold of the drill and picture method to vocabulary mastery of the students. (2). to develop and enrich knowledge in method of vocabulary mastery. (3). to add discourse of effective studying English for increasing students' achievements in general and vocabulary mastery in particular. The object of this research is the population of academic members of SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari, Anak Ratu Aji, Lampung Tengah in the academic year of 2011/2012. The sample of the study is the second year students of SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari and it is called as total sample because it just consists of one class. There are 24 students in this class. To get the data for writing down this thesis, the writer applied several methods and can be divided into three types, there are: document study, field research, and statistical methods. Document study applied by studying about documents which are available in the second year of SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari in the academic year of 2011/2012. Field research consists of questioner, test and observation. The researcher used the data from field research to analyze the problems which will be answered in this article. The last analysis is statistical methods. The writer uses formula of product moment correlation to measure how significant the influence eclectic reading method toward reading comprehension achievement. (1). Based on applied several methods above, the researcher discovered the result that: The score of eclectic reading method of the second year students or SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari according to the writer is significant, proven from the percentage questioner scores. It is 66 % (2). The English reading comprehension achievement of the second year students of SD Negeri 1 Gedung Sari is significant, proven from the percentage of English reading comprehension score. It is 71, 67%. (3). The next statistical hypothesis that says there is no correlation between eclectic reading method (X) and students' English reading comprehension achievement (Y) is refused because after consulting the critical r in the level of significant of 5% found that critical r for the number of samples 24 is 0,404. In other words, it can be said that research hypothesis says there is significant correlation between eclectic reading method and students' English reading comprehension achievement is proved.
