Abstract
Usually, the section about " atomic models " in Chemistry Brazilian textbooks introduces this subject through a historical perspective. However, the historical narrative present in these materials is made of only a selection of some scientists, their biographies and analogies about their models. This is an example of a linear historical reconstruction, where the historical context around the construction of the theories is not evident. Owing to these questions, this work aimed to develop, implement and assess a didactic sequence with a historical-philosophical approach which could bring the context to light by including in the narrative some scientists who are traditionally forgotten in Chemistry teaching at high school level, intending to explore some questions about Nature of Science. From this didactic sequence, we discuss the potentialities and the challenges of the constructed approach.
