Analysis of Risk Factors and Events Linked to the Supply Chain: Case of Automotive Sector in Morocco

research paper, 2017

Due to cost pressures and competitive advantages, the industries implementing globalization and outsourcing strategies to adapt to the changing business environment that is characterized by a relatively less stable state and increased sensitivity of their supply chains to disruptions. So companies are obliged to take seriously these risky events as well as to take other commercial risks. In this context and to achieve the objectives, the supply chain become more complex and consequently quite Lean and vulnerable to the disruptions of the risky events which can hinder or even prevent the achievement of those objectives. Therefore, in order to ensure this vicious circle, companies should adopt tools for analysis and evaluation in order to control these risk factors that potentially affect their ability to serve customers proficiently and effectively. Objective The supply chain is a very important element in the automotive industry, to our knowledge no previous study has attempted to analyze and evaluate the events and risk factors related to the supply chain in Moroccan automotive companies, in this perspective the objective of this article will be to elaborate a rather detailed overview on the main events or risk factors related to the supply chain in the automotive sector. In this perspective our work is clearly positioned on the analysis of risks in an emerging economy and a sector that is characterized by its complexity. This study is part of the implementation of approaches and tools for the supply chain risk in Moroccan companies. Method and Results The study is based on a survey of a sample of 32 operators and subcontractors from the automotive sector in Morocco. A total of 35 risk events (EIRLs) are analyzed, evaluated and grouped into 14 risk factors (FRLs). Based on these factors two evaluation tools (a probability impact matrix and a hierarchy of criticality levels) are developed. Conclusion Wishing to enrich the existing literary corpus on the supply chain risk management, while highlighting the significant risk factors that should keep and attract the attention of the managers involved in our study.

Risk Management in the Supply Chain: Characterisation and Empirical Analysis

Along any supply chain, a multitude of more or less critical incidents may prevent a company from obtaining the expected level of logistical performance. Knowing how to anticipate and manage supply chain risks is therefore an important approach to maintain a competitive advantage. The target of this article is to evaluate the impact of the risks in relation to the functioning of a supply chain on its logistical performance. For such needs, a survey was administered with 158 Moroccan manufacturers. The data collected allows to successively measure the impacts of the risks linked to the management of the upstream supply chain, of operational risks and risks linked to the management of the downstream supply chain on the logistical performance.

Supply Chain Management Concerns in Manufacturing Industries

2014

The developments in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and fierce global competition have persuaded all kinds of manufacturers to integrate supply chain management practices to achieve superior organizational performance. However, most of the supply chain management planning and strategies could not achieve the desired outcomes due to the lack of knowledge of the existing level of supply chain concerns prevailing in their organizations. With the help of a survey conducted among the executives of manufacturing industries in the Union Territory of Puducherry, this paper examines the current supply chain concerns in manufacturing industries using principal component analysis, K-mean cluster and discriminant analysis. Supply chain concerns have been categorized into supply chain coherence, geographical proximity and competitionoriented concerns, and manufacturing units have been segmented into low, medium and high supply chain concern industries.

Analyzing the Risk Factors of Supply Chain Management in Indian Manufacturing Organizations

Journal of Social and Development Sciences, 2011

Today organizations of any magnitude have heavily integrated supply chain. The supply chain management consists of all parties involved, directly or indirectly in fulfilling customer request. There is an immense growth which has expanded from the traditional point of view as not only of physical distribution of materials but also to services. Implementing supply chain risk management has been troubleshooting in many organizations. In practice assessing risk management in supply chain is rather underdeveloped and often dealt with informal and reactive manner. As risk management issues today is subjected to substantial research and the organizations are trying to mitigate the risk issues so as to maintain the smooth operation of supply chain. The purpose of this paper is to identify and prioritize the risk factors in context to supply chain management of Indian manufacturing organizations. The research presented here is specifically targeted to Indian manufacturing organizations which...

Managing Risks in the Supply Chain

Managing risks in the supply chain is of growing importance, as the vulnerability of supply chains increases. The main objective of this research is to identify and test the potential sources of risks in the supply chain. Therefore, survey data were collected from 201 workers from various companies in Sarajevo. The survey data is analysed descriptively. The results identified that employees in companies are aware of potential sources of the risks. The findings also confirm the importance of supply chain risk management for the agility and successfulness of the company. The research identifies and rates the possible risks supply chain management over a sample of workforce in Sarajevo area. It identifies some of the problems that the workforce recognizes and also provides a better understanding on the general attitude of the employees towards their companies Keywords: Supply chain management, risk, survey, risk factors, risk management.

Supply Chain Management and Its Practical Impact

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN INDUSTRY, 2021

This paper studied about the role of different independent factors on supply chain responsiveness. Here, we considered factors such as joint decision making, information quality and performance risk as three independent variables and supply chain responsiveness as a dependent variable. We tried to survey different supply chain professionals working in different sectors to have an unbiased image in our study. After applying Pearson corelation in our study, we understood the significance of our independent variables on supply chain responsiveness. The positive significance shows the importance of these factors while working on our dependent variable. All three relationships are showcasing either positive or strong corelation. Finally, we could infer that there are a lot more factors that we can take in to consideration for calculating the impact on supply chain responsiveness in future studies. This will definitely strengthen the case and will help in practical explanation. ...
