Media has become an integral part of daily life today. Everything which attracts the public attention has its positive and negative effects. People spend their time on social media through Smartphone, for various purposes like doing business, writing emails, doing academic research finding answers to questions, playing games and the like. In today’s era usage of communication technology is increasing day by day whether it may be in the field of education or any other field. The dependency on these technological devices has been increased; it may be fruitful on one hand and problematic from some aspects on other side. People are not realizing the negative aspects of the usage but when they were asked they seemed to neglect the negative aspects as they are not concerned but some other day it will certainly affect them. The present study was done to identify the communication technology induced stressor, exploratory factor analysis has been done on the data collected from 427 respondent and nine factor are extracted containing variables which simply explains the smartphone uses stressor that and those factors may be used for further analysis in various studies related to smartphone usage.

Today, smartphones have become a part of people's lives. While there are debates about whether technology drives human desires or whether changing human desires force technology to find new things, people spend more and more time with these devices every day as more expectations are met. These devices offer us many conveniences such as voice and video communication, accessing the internet, browsing the web, making phone calls, navigating with GPS, playing music and videos, interacting with people for business management, sending e-mails, playing games, shopping, tracking education and health. In addition to all these conveniences, excessive use during the day is a possible indicator of behavioral addiction. While addiction is defined as a repetitive habitual state that increases the risk of disease and is associated with individual and social problems, behavioral addiction is a type of addiction characterized by a specific behavioral pattern. Smartphones have various types of addiction on human behavior such as mobile addiction, social media addiction, gaming addiction, internet addiction, screen addiction and technology addiction. In addition to their benefits, they have negative consequences such as deterioration of mental health and well-being, causing depression and anxiety, low academic performance and decreased work success, deterioration of family and marital relationships, and worsening eating habits. In this study, we provide information about the studies conducted in the world on smartphone use. In addition, preliminary analysis results of some questions in a study we are currently conducting are shared. The results show that smartphones will continue to be used despite their benefits, time management problems, disruption of work, and some health and psychological problems.
The Effects of Smartphone Usage on University Students

This study examined the daily usage of smartphones by university students. The study utilised a questionnaire via Google form to elicit information from 106 tertiary level students that had agreed to participate in the research. The data obtained from the survey was compiled into tables to categorize the respondents into hours they had spent using their smartphones. A descriptive quantitative analysis was used to examine the findings in the study. Results indicate that too much time spent on smartphones late night affects students' quality of sleep, which in turn affects students' state of mind in the next day. In addition, it was found that students in the 18-30 age range are the ones most affected in their social interactions because of the reliance on smartphones. Findings also indicated that university students' excessive smartphone use during the night has negative effects on their well-being. They are unable to concentrate during lectures the following day, often feeling sleepy during the day, and face difficulties handling the day to day pressures, as well as, thinking rationally whenever problems occur. In addition, results also revealed that when university students rely too much on their mobile phones, they become anxious when their gadgets are not with them. In short, students' dependency on their smartphones affects them both physically and psychologically.

Background In addition to their widespread applications in various fields, cellular phones have some inappropriate social consequences, including psychosocial addiction, degradation of values, reduced social interactions, early maturity and endangering the psychological well-being of users. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate detrimental effects of Mobile phones on the psychological well-being of second grade students. Materials and Methods In this cross-sectional study, the sample population included 269 second grade students (107 boys and 162 girls) in Kermanshah, Iran in 2018 and being in the 10-18 age-range who were selected using cluster sampling. As for data collection, the Jenaro’s Cell-Phone Over-Use scale and Ryff’s psychological well-being scale were utilized, which were filled out by the students themselves. Objectives: There is insufficient evidence regarding the potential risk of mobile phone use on mental health. Therefore, the aim of this research was to examine the relationship between mobile phone use and mental health by measuring the levels of depression, anxiety, and stress among university students in Serbia and Italy. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out at two distinguished universities in Serbia and Italy from March to May of the 2015/2016 academic year and included 785 students of both genders. The questionnaire was compiled and developed from different published sources regarding the manner and intensity of mobile phone use, along with the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 42) for measuring psychological health. The statistical analysis of the data included the application of binary logistic regression and correlation tests. Results: Statistical analysis indicates that anxiety symptoms are somewhat more present in younger students (odds ratio (OR) = 0.86, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.76-0.96), in those who send more text messages (SMSs) (OR = 1.15, 95% CI: 1.11-1.31), and in those who browse the internet less frequently (OR = 0.84, 95% CI: 0.73-0.95). Stress is more common in students who make fewer calls a day (OR = 0.79, 95% CI: 0.64-0.97), as well in those who spend more time talking on the mobile phone per day (OR = 1.28, 95% CI: 1.12-1.56). The strongest predictor of high stress levels was keeping the mobile phone less than 1 m away during sleeping (OR = 1.48, 95% CI: 1.12-2.08). Conclusions: The results indicated that the intensity and modality of mobile phone use could be a factor that can influence causal pathways leading to mental health problems in the university student population.

The aim of this study is to determine the habits on the use of smart phone of young generation and identify their addiction to smart phones. For the purposes of the research, 759 students from Körfez Vocational High School were selected as the study sample by using simple random sampling method in 2015-2016 academic year. According to the results of research, 71 % of students use the smart types of mobile phones. In addition, 59% of students use the internet with their phone. 50 % of the students stated that they check their mobiles at least every 15 minutes. Moreover, 41% stated that they check their mobiles at least once every half an hour. According to the results of the experimental method, it has been evaluated that students have less movement and less learning achievement on the days they use smart mobile phone.
Impact of Excessive Usage of Smartphone in Kids
Excess of anything leave negative impact so is the excessive use of smartphone effected health of kids. This research presents usage and impact of smartphone in kids. To analyze addiction and impact of smartphone on kids' health, this study focused on three different age groups in particular. From literature we choose sleep deprivation, anxiety/depression and social interaction as primary health issue to study under this research. We conducted an experiment on 1500 school going kids and asked them to fill a survey having several questions on usage of smartphones. Results shown addiction of smartphone in most of the kids while dividing addiction in three levels; low, average and high. Results revealed 737 kids use smartphone at low level addiction, 454 kids use smartphone at average level and 352 kids found in the addiction of smartphone usage. Kids with high level of smartphone addiction have found to sleep depreciated, had anxiety and social issues. On major issue discovered was social anxiety which kids shown having social gatherings and even uncomfortable in communication with family and parents.
