INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ACADEMIC AND SCHOLASTIC PERSPECTIVE: BARRIERS AND SOLUTIONS

Language is a backbone of communication. It is a medium through which people communicate. Success of an individual depends to a large extent on his ability to communicate effectively with his colleagues, friends and relations. If he is able to achieve his objective, i.e. elicit the right response, his communication would be called effective otherwise failure to communication. We have to identify the factors which weaken our communication. Factors responsible for breakdown in communication are known as barriers to communication. This paper examines the issues of the barriers to interpersonal communication in cultural, physical, perceptual, emotional, language, and gender aspects which creates communication gap and obstruct smooth flow of communication and at once offers certain possible solutions.

INCREASING LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH THE APPLICATION OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION FOR EDUCATORS

Communication is a process of interaction that is carried out by a person either directly or indirectly in everyday life. Interpersonal communication is the process of delivering messages between two people or small groups directly, both verbal and nonverbal messages, to achieve the same meaning. Interpersonal communication for teachers is important for the achievement of student achievement. Therefore, research was conducted with the title: Application of Interpersonal Communication of Educators in Achieving Student Achievement at MTs Nahdliyatul Islamiyah Blumbungan. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of phenomenology. Sources of data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants are the principal, teachers. Meanwhile, checking the validity of the data is done through the triangulation of sources. The results showed that: first, in the application of interpersonal communication educators are (1) cooperation between school members is very important, (2) feedback that occurs in interpersonal communication has a positive response, (3) while the obstacles that occur in interpersonal communication are the presence of the teacher to the madrasa so that the teacher feels less time in communicating. Second, effective interpersonal communication for educators is (1) a teacher must have openness in interpersonal communication, (2) empathy in effective interpersonal communication also affects the interaction process in madrasas because with empathy we can feel what people feel. other.

Relationship Between Interpersonal Communication Competence and Students’ Assertive Behaviour

Students are more likely to be influenced by their social environment that affects their behaviour, cognitive, emotion as well as their lifestyles. The influence from social environment will eventually mould the students’ personality. Students’ positive personality can be developed by having interpersonal communication competence which plays important role in developing positive psychological aspect among them. This study aims to understand the relationship between interpersonal communication competence and assertive behaviour among secondary school students. A STUDY ON INTERPERSONAL SKILLS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS

Interpersonal Skills refer to the level of mental and communicative algorithms applied during social communications and interactions in order to reach certain effects or results. These skills are character traits possessed by an individual rather than skills that can be taught in a classroom. The purpose of this study is to explore the interpersonal skills of college students in relation to certain personal and demographic variables. The sample consisted of 300 college students selected from Chennai city for this study. Communicative Competence Scale developed by Wiemann (1977) was administered to collect the data. Collected data were subjected to statistical analysis and scores of the sample were computed. The result shows significant difference in students Interpersonal Skills with respect to their Gender, Degree Studying, Medium of Instruction, Residential Locality and Type of Family. The study also shows that no significant difference in students Interpersonal Skills with respect to their Stream of the Study, Type of College Management and Number of Siblings. Students' Communication Skills in Junior High School

This study aims to obtain an objective picture and information about students' communication skills in school. The research method uses quantitative descriptive methods with library studies' support, strengthening researchers' analysis in making conclusions following the subject matter-the data collection techniques using the Likert scale model. The communication skills questionnaire consisted of 4 indicators and 36 statement items. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the entire scale calculated was 0.788. Because the scale factor and the reliability coefficient are high, the scale can be considered reliable, and the scale items are homogeneous. Communication skills scale distributed using Google forms. The research sample was 134 grade VII students of Al Azhar 26 Yogyakarta Islamic Middle School in 2019/2010. It consisted of seven classes, namely VII A, VII B, VII C, VII D, VII E, VII F, and VII G. The result showed that students' communication competency of indicators were in the medium category (71%). Communication barriers indicators were in a low category (67%). Meanwhile, body language communication got a low score (65%), and 77% of students have a low emotional maturity score in communication indicators. Overall, students' communication skills of class VII were classified as moderate (62%). The result show there was no significant difference in communication significance between male or female. Both male and female students have communication skills that are not good enough. Students' communication skills need to be improved by the teacher's guidance and counseling or counselor using guidance and counseling methods, such as discussion and other related methods.

The Investigation of Communication Skills of Students at Different Departments at a State University in Turkey

The main purpose of this study was to investigate communication skills of students studying at different departments at a state university. The survey model was used in the study. The data were collected by the Effective Communication Skills Scale developed by Buluş et al., (2017).The sample of the study consists of 277 university students studying in different departments. According to the results of the research; it was found that there was a significant difference between gender variable and active participative listening and empathy subscale. Moreover, it was seen that this difference was in favor of women in both sub-scales. Communication Skills in Practice

This study aimed at infusing top-notch communication skills, among students enrolled at Effective Communication Skills course. The course is elective for all Yarmouk University specialties (viz. medicine, art, science…etc.) for the academic year 2017/2018. A descriptive analytical research design was followed by the means of a survey questionnaire administered randomly on 546 students in order to assess their repository of effective communication skills. The study reported significant impact on participants' personal traits, social and presentation skills and on their relations with the others. This effectiveness was not affected by factors of gender or academic year.

Investigating the Impact of Interpersonal Communication Skills on Social Development among Female Students

This study aimed to investigate the effect of interpersonal communication skills on social development among third grade high school female students in the distinct 7 of Karaj city. Accordingly, 30 third grade high school female students were selected by random sampling method from distinct 7 in Karaj city and divided into two control and experiment groups which ach group includes 15 students. In order to measure students' social development Matson Social Skills Questionnaire (1983) used. Questionnaire validity by experts was confirmed.
