The rapid proliferation of information in the present era has important implications for the education and library usage of health professionals including medical students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the usage of library resources among first and third year medical students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from July 2009 until April 2010. Adopting a survey research methodology involving 205 students, the findings suggest that the three mostly used library resources are the Internet, newspaper and library websites while the three mostly used facilities are computer, reading area and discussion room. In addition, it is also found that there is no significant difference between male and female in most of the resources usage. In contrast, significant difference could be observed between Year1 and Year 3 in most of the resources usage. The significance of the study could be assessed from both theoretical and practical perspective.

Due to definite lack of data regarding use of library among undergraduate medical students in Bihar, this current study was conducted to fill the void. The objective was to find the usage pattern of library services including information technology services among undergraduate students of a tertiary care teaching hospital in Bihar. A cross-sectional, observational study was conducted from January to May 2015 in the undergraduate library of M.G.M. Medical College and L.S.K. Hospital, Kishanganj. Students who visited the library during the study period were given pre-tested self-responding questionnaire and the responses were analysed. Use of library by medical students is an important means of enhancing their knowledge and self-directed learning skills. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 155 MBBS students from IV semester in the Dept of Community Medicine of NKP Salve Institute of Medical Science, Nagpur. The study was designed to examine use of library resources by medical students in LAUTECH College of Health Sciences, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. The study employed the descriptive survey design to collect primary data from Medical students of College of Health Sciences, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. A total of two hundred and eighty (280) medical students (400 -600 level) of College of Health Sciences were randomly selected for the study. The main instrument for data collection was a structure questionnaire which was administered to the respondents shortly after their lectures. Advanced web-based technologies and the advent of cloud computing have transformed the academic library into the core provider of digital information and learning resources. The “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu has one of the most advanced digital libraries of Romania. In order to enhance the quality of the library services we have designed an exploratory study aimed to asses the impact of the digital library on student learning behaviour. There is need for a continual assessment of services and resource use in the library. This is to determine the extent the library is achieving its aims. The research is a survey of undergraduate students' awareness and use of medical library resources in the College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. Sample was 295 students from the three faculties of the College: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences & Technology and Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Results show that 84.8% of the students use the library. Regular users constitute 44.1% while occasional users are 40.7%. There is high awareness of availability of print based information resources. The use of Academic Library and Information Seeking Behaviour of Students at LIUTEBM University

This study aimed at assessing the use of academic library and information seeking behaviour of nursing and clinical medicine first year students at LIUTEBM University. The objectives of the study were to determine how often nursing and clinical medicine first year students used the library, to ascertain the purpose for which nursing and clinical medicine first year students used the library, to explore the extent of awareness of library services by nursing and clinical medicine first year students and to determine the challenges faced in accessing library services. Using descriptive research design, 30 students were purposively selected. Findings revealed that there were more female students enrolled in the programmes. The study also established that the library was being used occasionally by many students. Results on the purpose for using the library showed that many were using it to read in order to improve personal competence. The findings also revealed that majority students were aware of book display services while challenge revealed was inadequate time to seek needed information. The need by LIUTEBM University management to consider improving internet connectivity in the library to encourage information access in electronic form was recommended. This was seen as way through which many users can begin frequenting the library. Increasing the library operational hours to allow students access information outside their lectures hours was also highlighted. Accordingly, LIUTEBM University management were urged to consider subscribing to more online journals that would allow utilization of electronic information to complement existing physical copies of information.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to determine the data collected from the respondents of the medical and allied colleges in Goa state, with the aim of improving the existing Library an Information Services offered by the medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, homeopathic and ayurveda colleges in the state. Methodology: Survey method adopted for the present study. A structured questionnaire was designed keeping the objectives in mind and distributed to the students and faculty members and collected the required primary data. Collected data were analyzed using statistical tools. Findings: It is clear from the study that, English language is most familiar among the respondents as the percentage of respondents knowing English language is about 99 percent followed by Hindi accounting 95 percent and then Konkani having 81 percent of respondents.Majority of the respondents visit library every day which is followed by the respondents who visit library thrice in a week as their percentage is accordingly around 43 and 20 percent. This indicates that majority of the respondents visit library very frequently.80 percent of the respondents are having satisfaction about the library working hours. Students feel more convenient than faculties with respect to the location of library.
