STUDENTS' PERCEPTION TOWARDS USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS IN EDUCATION

The study looks at the impact of contemporary AI tools in the education system, which is deployed by students pursuing business majors. By giving students an array of tools that can hasten their learning, AI tools have transformed the way education is. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 52 students pursuing UG and PG in commerce, accounting, economics, marketing, etc. using random sampling technique. Statistical tools like percentages,ANOVA, Chi-square analysis, Correlation were used to analyze the data. The study explores the ability of technology to improve student's educational skills as well as the significance of a comprehensive approach in incorporating AI Tools in academics which can assist students in making better choices in their academic programs. Additionally, the research addresses the obstacles to integrating AI tools in academics.

The increasing prevalence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education underscores the necessity to explore its implications on ethical, social, and educational dynamics within the sector. This study aims to comprehensively investigate the impact of AI on higher education in Saudi Arabia, delving into stakeholders' attitudes, perceptions, and expectations regarding its implementation. The research hones in on key facets of AI in higher education, encompassing its influence on teaching and learning, ethical and social implications, and the anticipated role of AI in the future. Employing a quantitative approach through an online survey questionnaire (N = 1113), this study reveals positive attitudes toward AI in higher education. Stakeholders recognize its potential to enhance teaching and learning, streamline administration, and foster innovation. Emphasis is placed on ethical considerations and guidelines for AI implementation, highlighting the imperative need to address issues such as privacy, security, and bias. Participants envision a future characterized by personalized learning experiences, ethically integrated AI, collaboration, and ongoing support for lifelong learning. Furthermore, the results illuminate the intricate interplay between AI usage, purposes, difficulties, and their impact on attitudes, perceptions, and future implications. Accordingly, the research underscores the necessity for a comprehensive understanding of AI integration, considering not only its technical aspects but also the ethical, social, and educational dimensions. By acknowledging the role of AI uses, AI usage purposes, and addressing associated difficulties, educational stakeholders can work towards harnessing the benefits of AI while ensuring responsible and effective implementation in teaching and learning contexts.

This study investigated the effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on academic competency among students at Kampala International University in Tanzania. It aimed to: (1) assess awareness and utilization of AI, (2) explore the AI technologies used and their impacts—both positive and negative—on students’ academic competency, and (3) recommend effective ways to leverage AI for enhancing academic competency. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the research included 170 students and 30 teaching and management staff, totaling 200 participants. Simple random sampling selected students, while purposive sampling was used for staff. Data were collected through questionnaires via the Kobo Toolbox survey. Findings indicated a 77% awareness level of AI and a 65% utilization rate. The most commonly used AI technology was content development AI, such as ChatGPT (83.8%). Notably, 63% of respondents acknowledged that AI has both beneficial and detrimental effects on academic competency. Negative impacts included over-dependency and reduced critical thinking, while positive aspects included time savings and easier access to information. The study concluded that AI tools can enhance academic competency but may hinder personal development. It recommended restructuring curricula to incorporate AI skills and adapting assessment strategies to address AI-related challenges.

Abstract This study investigated influence of artificial intelligence on the quality of education in higher learning: A case study of Faculty of Education, University of Nairobi, Kenya. The research hypothesis was H01: There is no significant relationship between Instructors preparedness on Artificial Intelligence and the quality of education in higher education.H02: There is no significant relationship between Artificial Intelligence on Research and the quality of education in higher education and H03: There is no significant relationship between Adoption of Artificial Intelligence by Higher Education Institution and the quality of education in higher education. The study was based on the Constructivist Learning Theory, developed primarily by Jean Piaget in 1976. Descriptive Survey research design was used. The study targeted 4000 students, 300 lecturers, 1 Dean and 4 Chairs of Departments. A sample of 20% was used on both lecturers and students. Simple random sampling was used to select the students while census sampling was used to select ICT administrators and Lecturers. Google forms were used to collect data from the lecturers while questionnaires were used on students and Interviews from the Deans and Chairs of Departments. The results indicated a significant and high positive correlation between Instructor preparedness and the quality of education in higher education with a coefficient of r(35)=.898. The null hypothesis (p<0.05) was rejected. This showed that there is a correlation between involvement in decision making and lecturers’ performance in public universities in Kenya The results indicated a significant and high positive correlation between Artificial Intelligence on Research and the quality of education in higher education, with a coefficient of r(35)=.909. The null hypothesis (p<0.05) was rejected and On Adoption of Artificial Intelligence by Higher Education Institution and the quality of education in higher education. where Chi square (df=6, Pearson Chi square(χ2) =58.772a and p=0.000 at 0.05 level of significance. The study concluded that artificial intelligence influenced the quality of education in higher learning with Instructors preparedness on Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence on Research and Adoption of Artificial Intelligence by Higher Education Institution having a statistically significant relationship between on the quality of Education. It was then recommended that Universities should encourage the integration of AI tools and systems in research activities to improve research quality and efficiency. Universities should adopt institution-wide AI strategies that focus on integrating AI into administrative, academic, and student services. This study investigates the impact of AI chatbots, particularly OpenAI's ChatGPT, on the quality and efficiency of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). By conducting a comprehensive literature review using sources like PubMed, Emerald, and Google Scholar, it highlights both the advantages and risks of integrating ChatGPT into education. The findings show that AI positively affects student learning and skill development, allowing educators to focus more on delivering quality instruction. A theoretical approach is also provided, drawing from constructivist, socio-cultural, and cognitive learning theories to analyze AI's role in active learning, personalized environments, and social interaction. However, the study underscores the importance of deeper AI integration in higher education curricula, considering ethical concerns to better prepare students for future workforce demands. Despite clear benefits, such as improved research, grading efficiency, and enhanced student services, concerns about security, plagiarism, and broader societal impacts, including job displacement, remain. Therefore, the study advocates for balanced regulatory measures and the responsible use of AI in education to maximize its benefits while minimizing potential risks, ensuring thoughtful integration to enhance overall educational outcomes.

The relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and its aspects in higher education

Purpose This paper aims to provide better understanding on this phenomenon, as well as some recommendations to assist in preparing Al technology and its related aspects during crisis like Covid period and beyond. Design/methodology/approach The study consisted of two phases. Phase one focused on identifying top higher education institutions according to the QS world university ranking. As a result, 180 higher education institutions in the Arab region were found, with the 2022 QS Arab region university ranking. The study selected top 20 performing institutions. Each institution has been assessed according to six metrics including: international student ratio, international research network, international ration, Web impact, citation per page and paper per faculty. Phase two explored the adapted Al applications and their related aspects that are used in each institution using a learning online questionnaire. Pilot tests were used to determine the validity and reliability of the measures. Findings Numerous factors that lead to enhancing high education using Artificial Intelligence in higher education institutions have emerged from this study. These factors include; knowledge management, trust, learning, technical resources and complexity. First, effective knowledge management assists in maintaining information in a place where it is easy to share and access. Second, trust is considered a critical factor in dealing with uncertainties like covid-19. It needs to be effectively addressed by students and staff members, especially in higher education. Without trust, decisions cannot be successfully made and actions may be delayed or stalled. Third, continuous learning is a key factor that tends to enhance the capability of dealing with new routines or potential challenges. Fourth, technical resources refer to electronic devices and tools that are used by students and academics to interact and share knowledge. Originality/value Students and faculty academics perceive things and use Al technology differently, which can lead to misunderstanding and create tension between them. Many higher education institutions have adapted great Al technology applications, but they are significantly less proficient than previously thought at understanding how to leverage this technology to produce helpful solutions to their business difficulties.

This article investigates the perspectives of Romanian academics on implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Higher Education (HE). The article analyzes the pros and cons of AI in HE, based on the views of eighteen academics from five Romanian universities. There is a large and heated debate about the proliferation of AI in many domains, with strong supporters and determined deniers. Studies that research the implications of AI enrich the evidence-based literature on the advantages, disadvantages, threats, or opportunities that AI creates for us, for businesses, or for societies.
