The Role of Entrepreneurship Education in Developing Students’ Entrepreneurial Intentions

The objective of the present paper is to determine the role of higher education in shaping students' entrepreneurial intentions and attitudes. The analysis encompassed opinions of students representing two academic environments. Research problem and methods: The research problem presents in determining the extent of discrepancy between the level of entrepreneurial intentions and attitudes of students representing the selected universities. Authors applied the diagnostic poll method with questionnaire technique. A comparative analysis of students' declared inclinations towards entrepreneurial behaviour and pro-entrepreneurial attitudes was conducted. Research process: Authors begin with a theoretical introduction into the research issue. Next, empirical study's results are presented. The study is informed by high number of graduate unemployment and possibility of making entrepreneurship as a carrier choice affected by entrepreneurship education course offered by the students. This study investigated the relationship that exists between offering entrepreneurship education course and students intention to become entrepreneurs in selected universities in north east Nigeria. The population of the study were all undergraduate students from five selected universities in north east Nigeria. Purposive sampling was used in selecting the five universities, while simple random sampling was used in selecting four faculties and respondents from each university. The data was gathered across two semesters using four point Likert scale, ranging from strongly agreed to strongly disagree. SPSS version 16, descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation were used in the analysis of the data. The results showed that the students agreed that there is positive relationship between offering entrepreneurship education and their intention to become entrepreneurs. The Pearson correlation results also showed that, there is positive relationship between offering entrepreneurship education course and students' intention to become entrepreneurs.

The main aim of this study is to reveal the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions of students. Participants of this study in which field experiment was carried out consisted of experimental group involving 207 participants who were exposed to experimental stimulus (entrepreneurship education) and control group involving 131participants who had characteristics similar to exp erimental group but who were not exposed to experimental stimulus. Within this scope, this study was carried out by applying pre-test and post-test at the beginning and in the end of the term to measure entrepreneurial intentions of undergraduate students at the Department of Business, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Gazi University who enrolled in the university the same year, and who were divided into two groups as experimental (received entrepreneurship education within 15-week syllabus) and control (did not receive entrepreneurship education). Findings of the study show that there was a statistically significant difference between the entrepreneurial intentions of students before (beginning of term) and after (end of term) receiving entrepreneurship education. While no significant difference was found in two dimensions of entrepreneurial intention namely “innovation and action” and “family support”, there were significant differences in the dimensions of “determination and perseverance”, challenges of starting business” and “negative thoughts on running one’s own business”. Furthermore, it was found that scores of experimental group in these three dimensions after receiving entrepreneurship education were higher than their scores before the education. On the other hand, compared to experimental group, control group did not show any significant difference both in their general entrepreneurial intentions and in each dimension of entrepreneurial intention.
Entrepreneurship plays a significant role in the economic development of society. This is the reason why universities are paying attention to promoting entrepreneurship education programs. These programs are being provided at numerous levels and there is a need to assess the effectiveness of these programs from different aspects and to find out the strategies for designing entrepreneurship education programs more effective in terms of creating more student entrepreneurs. In order to know the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurship intention plays a pivotal role. If students develop their intention to start their own venture in business, then it will be a good indicator of their future entrepreneurial behavior. Hence the current research examines the impact of entrepreneurship education in terms of entrepreneurship intention. The research had three objectives which are, to determine the impact of attitude has on entrepreneurship intentions, to determine the impact of subjective norms has on entrepreneurship intentions and to determine the impact of perceived behavioral control has on entrepreneurship intentions. As these three variables are relevant for developing the entrepreneurial intention hence it is was important to explore their mediating roles. In order to collect data, the questionnaire method was used and overall one hundred and thirty two questionnaires were included in the final data analysis. The results suggest that attitude, subject norm and perceived behavioral control directly impact on entrepreneurial intention. The study recommended the use of role models in entrepreneurship education as it influences student attitude, the adoption of Project-based learning as it explains well why people should be entrepreneurial and the need for student motivation.
Entrepreneurship Education Increases Entrepreneurial Intention Among Undergraduate Students

Entrepreneurs play an important role in improving a country’s economy, shown by the increase in young people involved in startup businesses, including students. The young generation needs motivation through a good education to support their intention. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the role of entrepreneurship education in increasing entrepreneurial intention among business students. The data were obtained from 240 business students in Indonesia using a questionnaire. The study was conducted using descriptive methods and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Hypothesis testing showed that perceived desirability is the strongest variable on the entrepreneurial intention of business students. This study examined factors influencing students’ entrepreneurial intentions, including factors in entrepreneur education and entrepreneurial interest. The study was conducted on Economic Education students at IKIP Budi Utomo. The research sample was 48 people taken through a simple random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using multiple regression. Simultaneously, the factors of entrepreneur education and entrepreneurial interest affect entrepreneurial intention. The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of entrepreneurship education, demographic characteristics and personal attitude on entrepreneurial intention of university’s students. The data was obtained through questionnaire and samples were drawn from 240 students of 4 universities in Padang city these are Andalas University, Padang State University, Bung Hatta University and UPI-YPTK. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 16. In this research there are three independent variables, namely entrepreneurship education, demographic characteristics and personal attitude and one dependent variable, namely entrepreneurial intention.The finding has indicated that entrepreneurship education, demographic characteristics and personal attitude postively and significantly effect on entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial Education and University Environment toward Students Entrepreneurial Intention

This study aims to analyze the role of entrepreneurial education, university environment, on student intention for entrepreneurship. The analysis was conducted using an extended and modified Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model by including entrepreneurship education and the university environment as external factors that influence the basic variables in the TPB. Data were obtained through a questionnaire of 287 students at the Sumbawa University of Technology who were taking or have taken entrepreneurship courses. The data were then analyzed using the partial least square method. The results shows that entrepreneurial education and university environment affect entrepreneurial intention indirectly through perceived behavioral control and attitude towards entrepreneurial behavior respectively. Meanwhile, gender has a significant direct effect on entrepreneurial intention, where men have a stronger intention to become entrepreneurs.
Factors affecting for the entrepreneurship intention of undergraduates
Entrepreneurship can be defined as generating new business opportunity to create profit for the entrepreneur. In entrepreneurship culture, other than being an employee people are interested to be owners of business through creating new business ideas. It also generates innovative products, new job opportunities and economic development in a country. Improving the interest of university students to become entrepreneurs will lead them to obtain many benefits such as being flexible in their schedules, gaining different experiences, being a leader rather than someone's follower and can create a recognition for themselves. Entrepreneurship concept is also beneficial for the economy of the country that innovations generated through entrepreneurship will increase the living standards of the society. It will also provide a solution for the problem of increasing unemployment rate by creating job opportunities in new business ventures. This research article studies the factors affecting undergraduates to become entrepreneurs. Seven recent researches are selected to find out the factors affecting Entrepreneurship intention of undergraduates. According to the findings four categories were identified as follows: positively affecting, negatively affecting, nature is not clear, and those affecting and not affecting.
A Study on the Entrepreneurial Intention among Student
This paper focuses on entrepreneurship intensions among student, the entrepreneurial self-confidence of the student and the perception/opinion on entrepreneurial intention in India continue to face limitation in terms of societal pressures and self-confidence constraints. Entrepreneurship education may mitigate these limitations for those respondents with entrepreneurial aspiration. In this way entrepreneurship education can be positioned as an equalizer, possibly reducing the limiting effects of low self-confidence and ultimately increasing the chances for successful venture creation by motivating the student to take an entrepreneurship. This paper aims to measure and identify determinants of entrepreneurial intention among the professional course student pursuing Engineering and Management in various institution in Andhra Pradesh. The survey among the students by taking a sample size of 300 students from the various institutions.
