Ethnic Immigration Policy Implementation (1992- 2009)

Mongolian Journal of International Affairs, 2013

After Kazakhstan declared its independence, it became a large performer in the worldwide international migration process. The attraction of social and economic stability (with an increase in the level of living standard), stable ethno-demographic and population growth, no nationalist struggles as well as positive geopolitical situations, have lead to a huge flow of immigrants to Kazakhstan in the years since independence. In this study, I have suggested that results of the ethnic immigration policy include strengthening the national identity, creating a positive effect on the ethno-demographic outcomes, and increasing the number of the population size over the last nineteen years. Model of Assimilation / Integration of Imigrants

PEOPLE: International Journal of Social Sciences , 2020

The article aims to familiarize the scientific community with one of the results of a qualitative case study investigation that employed ethnographic methods of gathering data on Russian-speaking immigrants in the Brisbane region, Queensland, Australia, conducted in 2016-2017. The study, titled "Perceptions of Russian-speaking immigrants: A case study in Australia," was held in response to one of the most pressing and challenging questions on the agenda of many public administration offices around the world-"What can be done for better integration/assimilation of immigrants into host communities?" It set itself to identify factors affecting the processes of assimilation and integration of Russian-speaking immigrants into Australian society. The research not only pointed out alleged obstacles such as (1) employment, (2) education, (3) healthcare, (4) government assistance, and (5) discrimination but also suggested the theoretical Model of Assimilation/Integration of Immigrants (MAI). The proposed model could explain not only why immigrants cannot integrate easily into the host society but also some other futures of their behavior. The model indicates the possibility for quantification of assimilation/integration itself and thus, provides an opportunity for further comparison of degrees of assimilation in between population groups.

National migration administration: modern theories as a basis for effective modernization

E3S Web of Conferences, 2020

Studying the key impact factors, development regularities and consequences from the international labor migration has its own solid place in Western socioeconomic sciences for the last six decades already. Throughout this whole period quite many truly original research works have been carried out in dozens of countries worldwide and unique scientific approaches have been developed so that to determine the cause-effect relations within the migration dynamics (including the theory of human capital, the theory of household optimization, the Todaro model etc.). In this article the author makes an attempt to overview the key results of the most outstanding research studies on international labor migration which have been carried since the middle of the 20th century and till now. Afterwards, the author also offers her own methodology for evaluation of migration risks from the standpoint of population in foreign countries. The author suggests to use this model in the process of developing ...

Theoretical Aspects of Migration and its Impact on Political Processes

International Journal of Criminology and Sociology, 2020

The authors of the paper set the goal of examining the theoretical aspects of migration and showing the relationship between the influence of this social phenomenon on the political processes of the state and state policy in general. The authors highlight the main interdisciplinary approaches to the definition of the term “migration” with the aim of concretizing it in political science within the framework of the study. The study also answers the question of the relationship between "policy" and "politics" within a migration policy by comparing "state migration policy" and "migration policy", concerning which there is a different interpretation. The object of research is migration. The subject is migration policy and state migration policy. The topic is relevant because in the early 2000s migration acquired a new global scale under the influence of many heterogeneous factors often caused by adverse economic, social and socio-psychological conditions, as well as military conflicts of an interreligious and ethnopolitical nature. The research uses systemic, comparative, institutional, and ethnopolitical approaches. The systematization of approaches presents the scientific novelty to the definition of migration, as well as by the mutual influence of migration processes and political and administrative decisions.

THEMATIC ARTICLES – MIGRANTS’ INTEGRATION IN HOST SOCIETIES Modes of Minorities’ Integration: Explaining Historical, Economic and Political Factors

2008

There are a great number of states in which different ethnic minorities coexist, each of them having their own culture, language and history. In some of these states, the ethnic minorities have been subjected to marginalization and acculturation, in other states the minority groups were recognized as being distinct parts of the nation and were granted equal rights of participation in the public arena. This paper attempts to explain why states opt for such different ways of integrating their minorities. It first develops a typology of minorities’ integration and than, by using the example of two nation-states that fit into each type of integration model it discusses the historical, political and economical factors that could explain each pattern of minorities’ integration.
