Accidents are increasing day by day, also there is many laws and regulations are posed by government in order to avoid this road accidents. Accidents can be the unplanned event or the mistake that may occur resulting in injury and sometimes it also leads to death. The accidents occur in two wheelers are more compared to other vehicles. Although enough road rules and regulations are made by the government to avoid accidents, but the accident rate is increasing day by day. This may be avoided by wearing helmets and riding vehicles carefully. However wearing helmet can reduce the risk of accidents majorly. In this smart helmet system is providing safety to the rider in a most effective and technological way using Internet of Things (IoT) has been implemented for accident prevention, accident detection and also quick GPS location recovery system. This proposal also helps to understand IoT technology which is being emerged now a day’s .From the method proposed using Arduino UNO, MEGA and other cost effective sensors like an IR sensor. The bike engine will start only when the rider will worn the helmet. It detects the head of the bike rider within the range. A Radio Frequency (RF) Module is used for wireless communication between helmet unit as transmitter and bike unit as receiver. Ultrasonic senor used to detect nearby approaching vehicle’s and send voice alerts to rider by speakers, Most important utility of this method is that fall detection using Vibrator Sensor and GSM & GPS module system is included so that emergency medical service can easily track the location of the incident occurs and also sending SMS message alert to the emergency number of the rider stored. Smart helmet system helps to provide accident detection, safety and security to the two wheeler riders.

International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET), 2023

Nowadays accidents are increasing, hence many rules and regulations are proposed by the government to reduce the accident rate. Accidents are unplanned events that result in injury as well as sometimes accident leads to death also. Reasons for these accidents are the rider is not wearing a helmet as well as riding and being drunk. In this paper, an effective technology of Smart Helmet using the Internet of Things (IoT) is being introduced which helps to reduce these problems. One MQ-3 gas Sensor is used which can detect whether the bike rider is alcoholic or not. If the bike rider is alcoholic, then the MQ-3 sensor detects it and the system goes off. The bike rider's engine will start only when the rider is wearing a helmet. A helmet is a form of protective gear worn to keep safe the head from injuries. A smart helmet can detect the accident's locations and send text messages to family members by using GPS and a GSM module. This survey is related to smart helmets to avoid accidents. Smart helmet system helps to provide safety and security to two-wheeler riders.

Smart helmet using internet of things

International Journal of Reconfigurable and Embedded Systems (IJRES), 2021

The rate of death relative to the size of the world's population has remained constant, according to the world health organization (WHO). WHO targets to minimize the ratio of road death to the half by 2022. This paper discusses a way for accident detection and notification which can decrease this ratio. Piezoelectric sensors used inside a helmet to detect degree of trauma which interpret into electrical signal that used to determine if trauma is serious or not based on predetermined threshold. This trauma can be a result of any type of accidents. So, a detection system established to request immediate help from relatives and emergency department by sending SMS to them contains the longitude and latitude. In normal mode helmet can work as tracking device for the relatives.

Implementation and analysis of smart helmet

2017 4th International Conference on Signal Processing, Computing and Control (ISPCC), 2017

Smart helmet is an innovative concept. In our work, there are mainly four features which are useful nowadays to prevent the accident and brain damage to the rider. It also detect the location of accident. There are so many reasons for causes of accident like not following the traffic rules, carelessness of driver as taking alcohol while driving. To avoid this, we have to implement a smart helmet; for that reason there are two important units. Helmet unit and bike unit, in helmet unit there is transmitter block and in bike unit a receiver block is there. The transmitter transmit signal from transmitter to receiver through RF transmitter. There is a limit switch to detect whether the rider is wearing the helmet or not. MQ2 sensor is used to detect whether the rider has taken alcohol or not while riding. GSM and GPS system is used to send the message to the relative whose sim number is inserted in GSM. GPS system is to detect the location of accident. These all features make simple helmet into smart helmet.

Journal of emerging technologies and innovative research, 2020

Currently, accidents are a serious problem for everyone. Accidents are increasing day by day, so efforts are made to avoid them to minimize their consequences. We live in a world where the rules of the road have no importance for people and they are regularly violated. In addition, it’s human nature to resist what is imposed on them. Thus, using a different perspective, we provide safety with luxurious and intelligent features using a smart helmet. Two modules one on the helmet and bike each will work in synchronization, to ensure that the biker is wearing the helmet .A radio frequency module is responsible for the wireless communication between the helmet and the bike circuit. The ALCHO-LOCK function is used to prevent drink and drive scenarios Accident detection sensor detects accidents, and this is extended by employing GSM module in our circuit, which is designed to automatically send one message to one personal contact and one concerned authority that the person has been into a...

Smart Safety Helmet for Bike Riders using IoT

International Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Technovation

According to the law of the Indian government as per section 129 of the motor vehicle act of 1988 briefly explains the motorcycle or two-wheeler rider is mandatory to wear the helmet while driving and the recent survey conducted on road accidents by the world health organization (WHO). This WHO organization has briefly mentioned the cause and the prevention of road accidents that are happened around the world. They also mentioned the highest death rate that took place in India and the survey also reported as per the rate 1.5 lakh of road death has been accounted for by each year approximately. The above article motivates us to develop a system that is capable of providing safety and precaution to the bike rider. We designed a system that is capable of detecting the rider is whether wearing the helmet or not. Then detecting if the rider has consumed alcohol or not, whether if these two conditions are yet satisfied then only the motor will ignite or else it will not ignite. In case an...

Road accidents and vehicle theft are a major concern in our country. Majority of the deaths have happened due to road accidents that are caused due to negligence of not wearing helmet and drink and drive. Road accidents may lead to severe injuries due to lack of medical treatment immediately. This inspires us to think about making a system which ensures safety of the rider by mandating to wearing of helmet, detect drink and drive, provide immediate medical attention when met with an accident by notifying the guardian and the nearby hospitals with the location details. A system that also prevents vehicle theft through GPS tracking and face recognition which gives access to authorized persons only to start the ignition of the vehicle. Accident detection system based on Internet of Things (IoT)-Smart helmet

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCE RESEARCH, IDEAS AND INNOVATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY

The objective of our smart helmet is to provide the means for detecting and reporting accidents. The working of this smart helmet is very simple; vibration sensors are placed in different places of the helmet where the probability of hitting is more, which are connected to the microcontroller board. When the rider met with an accident and the helmet hits the ground, these sensors sense and gives to the microcontroller board, then controller extracts GPS location using the GPS module that is interfaced to it. When the data exceeds the minimum stress limit then the GSM module automatically sends a message to the registered emergency contacts and the link through which the location and the speed of the victim will be displayed in the mobile application and in a web application.
