Abstract

Evaluates theological and canonical treatment of Episcopacy by Vatican II and especially since. The partial failure of the doctrine of collegiality could be explained by insufficient in-depth study of the correlation between the college of Bishops, communion of Churches and Primacy in a context where a theology of regional churches was merely outlined. Whence a number of theological field projects of pastoral, ecumenical and institutional import that might be considered at the upcoming Roman Synod on Bishops.
