Lessons in Economic Policy for Eastern Europe from Latin America, 1996

Abstract

During the last two decades, for a plethora of reasons, all Latin American countries have introduced economic reforms, attempting, with varying degrees of success, to stabilise and liberalise their economies. More recently, and in much more dramatic fashion, the former socialist countries of Eastern Europe have turned the wheel 180 degrees and have embarked on drastic reforms to transform their systems into capitalist economies.
