Analyzing and modeling the impacts of agricultural land conversion
Agricultural Land Conversion (ALC), as a result of human activities during over the past 50 years, is converted to a main challenge of 21 century. This is especially important because of its direct relations with the other issues such as food security and environmental sustainability. According to the 2012 FAO report, the per capita of arable land in the world declines 1.46% from 1970 to 2009. This decrease for Iran has been 2.054%. It represents that ALC in Iran is worse than the most of the other areas of the world. The main object of this study was determining the effects of ALC. The study group consisted of the experts who were working in Agricultural Lands Organizations and Administrations in 2012. For data collection a questionnaire which was completed with interview method was used. The numbers of interviewees were 101 persons. These studies showed, according to interviwees the main impacts of ALC at the first are economic impacts and then respectively are social and environmental impacts.

Background: Agricultural activities on sloping lands have historically led to forest loss and degradation in China which, coupled with industrial pressures on the environment, were deemed responsible for catastrophic flooding events in the late 1990s. After these events, China's forest policy underwent a significant reorientation towards ecological conservation and rural development, a process epitomized by the Conversion of Cropland to Forest Program (CCFP). Launched in 1999, the CCFP integrates both socioeconomic and environmental objectives with the aim of reforesting smallholder cropland on sloping lands, while compensating farmers with payments for their lost income. Following 15 years of implementation, it is timely to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the state of knowledge about the CCFP's impacts on human populations and the environment. Methods/design: The primary research question asks "What socioeconomic and environmental effects has the Conversion of Cropland to Forest Program had on human populations and land resources during its first 15 years in China?" We use a theory of change and a Population-Intervention-Comparator-Outcome (PICO) framework to structure our systematic review, where populations of interest consist of both human populations and land resources targeted by the program, while the intervention of interest is the CCFP as defined by its component activities, including compensatory subsidies, skill-training, and enforcement with field checks. Outcomes are defined as both the socioeconomic and environmental impacts of the program. We will conduct a search for relevant English and Chinese language literature on Scopus, Web of Science, CAB Abstracts, AGRIS (FAO), and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Search results will be screened for relevance in a two stage process (titles and abstracts, followed by full texts) based on predefined eligibility criteria, and then further assessed for potential sources of bias. Extraction of data from those studies that have passed full-text screening will follow a coding protocol based on the PICO framework, and quantitative and qualitative analyses of the extracted data will be conducted and synthesized. Finally, a narrative report will present the findings of the review, alongside a geographic map illustrating the coverage of included studies compared with the actual implementation area of the CCFP.
Innovation for Sustainable Productivity in Agricultural Land Conversion

The conversion of agricultural land for the construction of toll roads is a necessity. The change requires supporting agricultural technology and innovation to combat the decline in agricultural productive lands. The research objective was to analyze the Innovation for Sustainable Productivity in Agricultural Land Conversion policy. Case studies of farming communities affected by land conversion were used. The sources of the data were community research and farmer groups with interactive data analysis. The findings showed that productivity was not fully directed to sustainability and productivity decreased. Agricultural innovation was limited to the adoption of agricultural machines causing problems for both labor and the environment. Farmers used conventional methods. Unsustainability of conventional agriculture practices led to the increase of conversion to organic agriculture. This study investigates farmers’ personal motive of conversion and examine the significance of conversion period in organic agriculture practice. This study further analyses social and economic benefits of conversion to organic agriculture and its contribution in increasing sustainable rural development in Indonesia. This study uses mixed method analysis by conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection strategy. Factors Affecting Farmer's Decision in Converting The Function of Agricultural Lands

This study aims to analyze the factors that affect farmer's decision in converting the function of their agricultural lands. The factors are: farmer's age, education level, total number of family members, the area of agricultural lands, income, and location of agricultural land. This study is conducted in Depok sub-district, Sleman district, Yogyakarta, as an area with high rate agricultural land function conversion, marked by the decrease in the area of agricultural land. This study is conducted using survey method, with farmers who decide to convert the function of their agricultural land and farmers who do not as unit analysis. The data is analyzed using logistic regression. The analysis result shows that farmer's age and agricultural land location have negative effect on the decision to convertagricultural land function, education level and total numbers of family members have positive effect, and the area of agricultural lands and income have no significant effect on the decision to convert the function of agricultural lands.
AGRICULTURAL LAND CONVERSION: AN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT APPROACH

The continuing urbanization and industrialization of the provinces nearby Metropolitan Manila and other cities of the Philippines have resulted to the continual decline in productive agricultural land. This was brought about by the massive conversion of agricultural lands to industrial, commercial and residential purposes. Land-use change is arguably the most pervasive socioeconomic force driving changes and degradation of ecosystems. Deforestation, urban development, agriculture, and other human activities have substantially altered the Earth's landscape. Such disturbance of the land affects important ecosystem processes and services, which can have wide-ranging and long-term consequences. This research paper aims to proposed Environmental Management Approach to an agricultural land converted into residential or any other similar development with negative impact to the environment. The study utilized the descriptive qualitative methods. In the aspect of environmental management, integrated approach in which all the components of the environment are taken into consideration and its proper management, as a whole, is done. Result shows that a twenty-four hectares' agricultural land can fed eight hundred seventy-nine people or one hundred seventy-six families with an average of five family members per year. Twenty-four hectares' is just a small portion of the remaining 23% of the agricultural land of Barangay Bulihan remain as rice field as 2015. 77% of agricultural land has been converted into Subdivision as of 2015.
