Abstract

Background: Based on its geographical location, Vocational High School (SMK) N 1 Selo, Boyolali, Central Java is located in an area prone to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Because in general the risk of disaster can occur at any time, it is important to better prepare the school environment to face disasters. One of the most strategic efforts is to provide disaster training and simulations to teachers and students to increase disaster response capacity through disaster prevention schools. Purpose: The aim of this activity is to carry out disaster management training activities and disaster simulations at the Selo 1 State Vocational School. Method: The methods used are direct tutorials to increase partners' understanding of natural disasters and disaster mitigation materials, as well as disaster simulations to improve the skills of disaster response partners. This activity was carried out at Selo 1 State Vocational School, Boyolali, Central Java. Result: : Before being given the training and simulation, the level of knowledge and skills in preventing natural disasters, there were 0 participants who were at a good level (0%), but after being given the training and simulation, the level of knowledge and skills in preventing natural disasters in the good category of participants increased to 13 people (23.6%). Meanwhile, in the sufficient category, before training and simulation, the level of disaster prevention knowledge and skills was 10 participants (18.2%). After training and simulation, the level of disaster prevention knowledge and skills increased by 27 people (49.1%) and in In the poor category, before the training and simulation, the level of knowledge and skills for disaster prevention was 45 people (81.8%). After the training and simulation, the level of knowledge and skills for disaster prevention decreased to 15 participants (27.8%). Conclusion: Disaster management training has the benefit of increasing the knowledge and skills of school elements.
