The Importance of Innovation in Agile Project Management

2021 IST-Africa Conference (IST-Africa), 2021

The need for agile and agility mind-set has been established across various discussions around effective management of IT development projects. Software development teams continually express the constant pressure coming from the necessary adjustment to the ever-changing IT architecture and landscape; which in turn necessitates for innovation that can foster the evolution of approaches and methods to effectively manage and deliver successful IT projects. Existing literature suggest that the major aim of adopting Agile is to improve innovation across all functions of the business. Therefore, if innovation and agile mind-set are what can sustain the response into the ever-changing IT landscape, there should be some degree of interrelation between these concepts. The aim of this study was to understand the impact of innovation and presence of innovative efforts within organisations towards successful delivery of agile development projects. The study found that for agile projects to succ...

Conceptual Framework of Agile Project Management, Affecting Project Performance, Key: Requirements and Challenges

International Journal of Innovative Research in Engineering & Management

There have been a few studies that have adequately compared the advantages and disadvantages of various types of agile techniques. This research study develops a conceptual model that enables top management team members, software developers, project managers, and researchers to gain insight and understanding of agile techniques and methods. Those involved in the project want to successfully complete projects on time and within budget while maintaining high quality standards and operating in a safe and environmentally conscious manner They also want to minimize the negative impact on the environment. When it comes to project execution, however, there are numerous constraints and risks that limit their ability to begin or progress operations, and which frequently have a significant negative impact on the overall performance of the project. After reviewing the literature, it was discovered that the Agile method is capable of accurately representing most factors. It is based on the findings of this research that this paper presents a conceptual model for the effect of agile project management on project performance in terms of timeliness, cost, and quality. factors are unpredictable and can have consequences that are difficult to undo without incurring significant costs in the process. As a result, it is more critical than ever to investigate their impact on project outcomes. The ability of countries to manage risks, control expenditures, exploit and benefit from opportunities is dependent on their ability to comprehend the impact of Agile methods on their respective organizations and cultures.

THE RISE OF AGILE METHODOLOGIES IN MANAGING COMPLEX BUSINESS PROJECTS: ENHANCING EFFICIENCY, COLLABORATION, AND ADAPTABILITY

Indo American Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Review (IAJMRR), 2024

Agile project management has rapidly emerged as a key methodology for managing complex business projects, emphasizing adaptability, customer satisfaction, and team collaboration. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of Agile methodologies on organizational efficiency across various industries. Using a qualitative approach, data were gathered through literature reviews, case studies, and interviews with professionals experienced in Agile practices. The results showed that 70% of organizations reported improved team performance after adopting Agile, with a 35% increase in team collaboration and a 25% reduction in time-to-market. However, challenges such as resistance to change (impacting 70% of businesses) and the scarcity of skilled practitioners (39% availability) were noted. The study concludes that while Agile significantly enhances organizational responsiveness and innovation, successful implementation requires strategic planning and continuous training. Key Words: Agile project management, organizational efficiency, team collaboration, adaptability, resistance to change.

Agile Methods, Organizational Culture and Agility: Some Insights

Software development depends on various factors and organizational culture is one of them. Recently agile software development, with its emphasis on agility, has received much attention. Research so far has focused on the constructs that define agility and also identified the reasons that limit teams from exhibiting all the constructs of agile software development. This lead to redefining agility by using economic, quality, simplicity and the relationship with the environment it operates on. One of the factors that contribute to relationship with environment is organizational culture. Though relationship of organizational culture and software methods is not new, analyzing the relationship further in the new defined definition of agility can provide deep insights into software development. In this paper a qualitative research method of multiple case-studies consisting of 3 releases of one product development team was selected. Data was collected using participant-observation method. Research findings have identified some useful insights that could provide researchers and practitioners to develop software development life-cycle that incorporates existing agile methods and uses diverse set of methods to resolve issues including organizational issues. Thereby the new software development life-cycle would not distinguish between agile and plan-driven development methods and could shape itself in the changing context.

Agile Organizations How Adaptive Management is Shaping Business

Project Management in the Development of Dynamic Capabilities for an Open Innovation Era

Journal of Open Innovation: Technology, Market, and Complexity, 2021

The aim of the research is to explain how Project Management (PM) ensures the accumulation, integration, utilization, and reconfiguration of the capabilities and knowledge acquired in projects in order to build dynamic capabilities (DCs). This study also gives insight into how PM can develop DCs through the identification and implementation of project management opportunities. The result of 22 semi-structured interviews with 22 participants from 9 companies of different industries are detailed and framed within theoretical dimensions of DCs: knowledge accumulation, integration, utilization, reconfiguration, sensing, and seizing. As a result, we present the best practices, techniques, and PM tools that allow leveraging DCs in organizations. This qualitative study contributes to a theoretical and empirical discussion about how PM transforms knowledge acquired in projects into routines and learning practices that allow organizations to develop or reshape capabilities.
