Diversity of Insect Fauna in Croplands of District Faisalabad

245 Insects are the largest and the most diverse group of organisms. Different crops showed varied responses towards insect populations. Present study was aimed at collection, identification and comparison of species richness, abundance and evenness of insect fauna from four major crops (sugarcane, fodder, wheat and brassica) in District Faisalabad. Sugarcane was the preferred crop by majority of faunal species followed by fodder, wheat and brassica. Maximum diversity of faunal species was found in sugarcane whereas; wheat crop was found to support maximum coleopteran predators and hemipteran pests. Wheat and brassica fauna showed maximum similarity. The insect data of the year 2007-8 was considerably more diverse and abundant than that of 2008-9. Trophic guild showed, phytophagous (175) followed by zoophagous (41), omnivore (27) and saprophagous (23) species. The present insect data base will be helpful in designing future integrated pest management studies.

Abundance is defined as the relative representation of species in a particular area. It is usually measured as the number of individuals found per sample. The abundance of insects was recorded from the selected fields of mustard, potato and tomato fields. Samples were collected by applying quadrant method, simple tools were used i.e. sweep nets and direct handpicking. Hemiptera, Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera were the main orders of the insects that were most abundant and effecting the selected fields. Total collected specimens were numbered as 117, out of which 65 specimens were recorded from mustard 36 from tomato and 16 from potato field. The results indicate that insects have subsequent association with their host vegetables at leafy stage. A maximum abundance of insects was found in mustard fields and least in Potato field. A common insect found among all fields was the budworm. Abundance was recorded less because of some factors i.e. low temperature and pesticides.

The Cole crops like cabbage, cauliflower, knolkhol, kale and turnip are widely cultivated and consumed as vegetables in J&K state and Danderkhah location in this region is well known for the cultivation of these crops. The present investigation was undertaken in order to study the incidence and diversity of major lepidopterous insect pests and their potential parasitoids (natural enemies) on Cole crops at Danderkhah Study site. Two plots (50X 50 m) of Cole crop at this site were selected and fortnightly field survey was conducted in the year 2016-17. As many as 16 lepidopterous insect pest species, belonging to 5 insect families and 12 Insect genera, were recorded on Cole crops during present study, among which, Thysanoplusia orichalcea, Pieris brassicae, Pieris rapae, Plutella xylostella, Agrotis ipsilon and Helicoverpa armigera were the abundant ones. The other detailed studies with special reference to seasonal incidence and diversity, pertaining to these lepidopterous pests were conducted. Moreover, during this study, as many as 16 parasitoid species were found parasitizing the lepidopterous pests on Cole cops. The data collected during this investigation can be helpful in future studies for devising the pest management strategies, especially against afore-mentioned pests in this region.
Insect Diversity in Some Rural Areas District Bagh Jammu and Kashmir (Pakistan)

The present study was designed to find species composition and diversity of insects in (Cultivated area, wild area, suburban) existing at different trophic level of food chain in Bagh. The study was conducted from November, 2017 to September, 2018. Fifty-two species of insects belonging to 33 families were recorded. The diversity of insects in all studied area were same but significant difference in density of insects was found.
Agriculturally Important Insects Diversity in Kharif and Rabi crops of Talwandi sabo, Punjab
The field investigation during 2013-14 at Talwandi sabo, Punjab revealed that there are 19 insect pests identified from kharif crops whereas 13 insect pests were recorded from rabi crops. The 5 bio control agents and 2 ant species were recorded from agriculture field. In these Hemiptera and Lepidoptera are having maximum number of insect pests causing major damage to both kharif and rabi crops. Hence the present studies provide good information about different insect pests and its associated insects in agriculture fields.

The reported species were recorded from different habitat like Agricultural field, Residential area, Water Reservoirs, Woodland & Forest, Thorny Scrub and Grassland area. According to IUCN Red list, 1 species is critically Endangered, 2 species are Endangered, 1 species is Vulnerable, 5 species are Near Threatened, 14 species are Data deficient, and 2 species are Least Concern. The insect pest cause on an average 15-20% yield losses in food and cash crops. Due to heavy of Insecticides use in agricultural field, the natural biocontrol agent's numbers are drastically declined in study area. Suggestions for future improvement include, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program through the ecological pest management practices.

This study aims to assess the diversity and insect populations in agricultural ecosystems. Sequens of this study consisted of determining the location of the sample, the sample unit, and agricultural ecosystems. This research was conducted using survey methods, identification and analysis data.The result study showed that abundance, / insect populations and diversity obtained from agricultural ecosystem is a total of 39 individuals consisting of 6 orders and 6 families, with the amount of each individual as follows : Hemiptera 7, 12 Diptera, Hymenoptera 5, 4 Coleoptera, Lepidoptera 6, .and Orthoptera 5 The density populations the highest of the agricultural ecosystem that is on the order Diptera Family Lauxalidae. Insect pest of wheat crop in District Haripur, KPk, Pakistan

During the present study the total 23 species of insects were discovered belonging to 8 orders of class Insecta, insects belongs to order Hemiptera was greater in number, mostly there were presences or abundance of larvae's of both moths and butterflies were recorded. the species that were recorded are given in (fig.1)includes Periplaneta Americana, apema pest, ladybird beetel, green vegetable bug, ladybird beetel, specie of lady bird beetle, blue pansy, Nezara viridula, hawk moth larvae, fluffy caterpillar of moth, green bug, beetel, caterpillar, Inchworm, caterpillar, dytiscus marginlis, caterpillar, white fly, caterpillar, cinnbar moth, grasshopper lime butterfly. These insects were mostly recorded during the time of wheat harvesting other types of insects also recorded but not shooted.
Biodiversity of Insect Pests in The Agroecosystems of Maize (Zea Mays L.) In Telangana State, India

The study was conducted at maize/ corn crop fields in Nalgonda, Warangal, and Ranga Reddy, erstwhile districts of Telangana state, India, during the 2021-22 Kharif and Rabi seasons. Main objective of the study is to investigate Biodiversity of insect pests in the agroecosystems of maize (Zea mays L.) in Telangana state, India. Sweep net and hand-picking methods were used to collect insect pests on maize/ corn fields. sixteen insect pest's species were observed, belonging to Coleoptera, Diptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, and Orthoptera orders in the class Insecta of the Arthropoda phylum of the Kingdom Animalia. The order Lepidoptera represented the highest number of eight species followed by Hemiptera three species, Coleoptera two species, Orthoptera two species and Diptera one species. The family Noctuidae of lepidoptera was the richest with eight species followed by Acrididae of Orthoptera with two species, Chrysomelidae of Coleoptera with one species, Scarabaeidae of Coleoptera with one species, Muscidae of Diptera with one species, Aphididae of Hemiptera with one species, Lophopidae of Hemiptera with one species, and Derbidae of Hemiptera with one species on maize/ corn crop fields. Ecological indices of insect pest's species i.e., Species diversity (Shannon-Wiener Index), Species richness (Margalefs Index) and Species evenness (Pielou Evenness Index) were calculated.

Insect biodiversity drives ecological functioning and provides ecosystem services in different landscapes. Protected areas with the least anthropogenic disturbances provide resources with the least disturbance in habitat favouring insect species belonging to different guilds to coexist and contribute to the ecosystem processes.
