Abstract

Myopia people use contact lenses and spectacles as a visual aid. Measuring the suitability of the measure of visual impairment from contact lenses and spectacles is not enough to be assessed from visual acuity and visual field measurements alone, but also needed subjective patient-based visual function assessments, namely the VF-14 questionnaire. A total of 40 students were involved in this study. All of the participants were given the VF-14 questionnaire twice: for visual function using contact lenses; and visual function using spectacles. The mean VF-14 score among contact lenses and spectacles wearer were 90.63±2.96 and 93.04±2.45respectively. There were significant differences visual function between contact lens and spectacles wearer (p = 0.00) especially in reading small print activity; reading signs; watching TV; playing table games; cooking; driving during the day; and recognizing people at distance.
